    bleeding at 16 weeks

    I am so worried

Has anyone else bled at anytime through their pregnancy? I'm 16 weeks pregnant and woke up from an afternoon sleep to find that I was bleeding. It really scared me as it was like a heavy period and it was bright red. I had to ring my hospitals labour ward as my Ob is on leave for help. The midwife said she would contact the Ob taking my Obs patients and ask him what I should do. When she rang back she said that if the bleeding came back or I start having pains to go to King Edward. And if it doesn't to contact this Ob and he will see me tomorrow sometime.

Well the bleeding hasn't come back but I'm still wiping away browny staff that looks like blood. I don't know the hospitals in Perth at all, never used them apart from seeing my Ob at SJOG subiaco for my visits. I don't understand why I would have to go to king Edward and not sjog in these circumstances...... I wouldn't even know what to do or where to go if I have to go to king Edwards. Do I go as a private patient or public? Do i see any doctor or will this Ob that is taking my Obs patients come and see me?

I don't really feel as though I have been treated right by my chosen hospital or this Ob thats stepped in for my Ob while his away. I hope I don't sound spoilt or anything like that....just so worried and confused...feel a bit brushed off

    Hi casscart
You don't sound spoilt at all.
Sorry to hear that things are a bit scary at the moment. If you are still concerned tonight, go to KEMH and they can have a look at bubs, save yourself a night of worry. You could go there and ask them your questions as you mentioned above and I'm sure they will be able to help. I'm not sure how it works either, sorry i can't help more.

Big :hugs: to you. Pregnancy is such a scary thing! but in most cases our worry is unneccessary. All the best.

Casscart it must be really scary for you. I would say they hae told you to go to ing Edward because they are the specialist maternity hospital in perth that deal with all problems and premmie births. Even if you are going private with a private ob and you have big problems etc then you will be sent to King Edward, as they have all the specialist staff ad equipment etc to deal with any problems.
I hope everything works out well for you, and that the bleeding is nothing serious.

    Thank you Lee and ali25

I think I might head over to king edward, just noticed I've started bleeding again. Not as bad and heavy as it was today, but its gone back to bright red in colour. I have no idea why I'm bleeding like this, it must not be normal, or is it??????

Hi casscart. I hope you've headed off to hospital. I would've been heading there as soon as the first bleed happened. I hope all is ok.

All you guys are gorgeous thank you

I saw the Ob today and was so happy to see my babies heart beating beautifully. Everything seem to look fine today (sooooooo relieved). My Ob did find something on the ultrasound though that could be the reason for the bleeding, I think he said it was some sort of seperation.....To tell you the truth everything went in one ear and out the other after I found out the baby was fine. I didn't like that I had to have an internal though, yuk! Have to see my Ob again in about a weeks time, and cross my fingures that the bleeding doesn't come back.
