Bubs only kicking in the one spot!

    Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is normal, but bubs only seems to kick in the one spot! It's just on my left side...

Maybe i'm just not picking up on other kicks in different areas, because i always feel kicking in the same spot, and i kind of give it a poke... just to say hi back and he/she kicks me back, which is very cute

I just thought they would be doing more somersaults etc at the 18 week stage and changing positions more? I have an anterior placenta if that makes any difference?

hi keira! I consistently felt kicks in the same spot, to the right of my belly button and I'm 32wks now, so I'm also starting to feel movements down closer to my pelvis, lots of hiccups in the lower left belly and sometimes but very rarely, a faint kick at the top of my uterus. Everything you describe sounds perfectly normal, your bubby still has lots of room to move so can probably do so alot without you feeling all the movements.

Congratulations on your little boy! Not long to go now!

    Hey Keira,
I sound very similar to you. I have an anterior placenta also and feel bubs mainly down lower and on the right. Apparently they have a preferred position at this stage, so maybe that is why you mainly feel it there, as well as the fact that you wont be able to feel the other frontal kicks and back kicks as the placenta is in the way.

I feel bubs alot more now that it is bigger, so you might get some harder kicks elsewhere as it grows,

    Good luck!

I just posted a thread in the thirs trimester part saying I felt movements for the first time. Up until then I had only felt movements in the one place too - all on mu upper right side. I guess babies have favourite positions!

    Hi Keira,

I was the same for quite a while there too, probably until mid to late 2nd tri - just getting kicks in pretty much the same spot for what felt like ages. But now they're all over the place, so it's maybe just a case of waiting till bubs gets a bit bigger & stronger. And LOL at you poking bubs - that's exactly what I do with mine, just to get the kicking response back & to let them know that I know they're there - it's a fun game to play.

    Hi,

For a while there i too felt kicks in just one spot. My placenta is on the left hand side.

Now the little blighter likes to move around a lot, I call him shifty baby. Yet he's running out of room now so I'm not sure what his caper is.

I do think that if you favour certain positions, espcially in bed, then bubs will find a position that they find most comfortable as well. I know when I lay on my right side, because I favor the left for sleeping, the movement really kickis into action.

I feel all of my bubs movements on the left - I found out at my ultrasound that the placenta is covering the other half of the uteris at the front, thus when he kicks there I cann't feel it (you cange still see it though!)
