cramping, Period like pain - is this normal???

I've had a cramping pain quite low most of the day today. It feels like a period cramp but lower. Is this normal during pg? I've had no discharge and no other pains other than the continuing back pain i've had since about 8 weeks. I don't remember having this kind of pain with DD.

Ive had cramping like that since day 1. It has my worried sometimes but i havent had any spotting. My back is already starting to kill me so i know this will be a very LONG pregnancy.. but thankfully no more morning sickness.

I was reading today that it's quite normal to feel stretching sensations & pains that can feel like cramps and/or pulling. As long as it's not strong, and there's no bleeding, you should be alright. But you can always have an OB check you out if you need. And at just over 19 weeks, you'll be having your anatomy scan soon, wont you? (I have mine booked for 19 weeks)

I had a similar cramping in my first trimester, My doc said it was due to bubs growing and ligaments stretching. Around 28 weeks I had similar cramps, just a few every hour or so, over the next 2 days the cramps were more persistant. Not worse but just seemed so last longer and gradually increased in how many I was getting per hour.

I wasn't too concerned as there was no discharge, bleeding, back pain, etc but called my midwife and went to hospital to get checked out. At the time I was still working 40hours a week on my feet for 90% of my shift, the midwife explained I was doing too much and this was just the bub's way of telling me to relax and take things easy. I sort of knew I'd been trying to hard to keep up at work and this was the perfect reality check to s-l-o-w down.

I'd recommend talking to your care provider if you have any concerns, if only to put your mind at rest.

Yes - scan is booked for the 29th. I just didn't remember having it with DD so wasn't sure. No bleeding and not too strong.

lindsay- I too work in fulltime in retail and spend 95% of my shift standing up and im already getting the worst back pain and ive almost passed out once.. i was seconds from fainting and my mum told me that my body is telling me its too much. But being so close to christmas my work cant afford for me not to work fulltime but as soon as christmas is over i am cutting my hours down by half and go casual so i earn roughly the same. And yeah i heard that the 'cramping' is stretching and growing pains but my god they dont feel lke it

Good to hear Sunshine! I have a contanstant 'pre-AF' feeling. The heavy sensation I used to get usually the day before she showed up. I also get some pulling that can be on the verge of painful, but it's all the natural course.

1sttimemumma - good choice to cut the hours. I can wait until I get to cut mine permenantly!!

I got cramps & sharp pains like that around week nine, the doctor checked it he said it was normal but it got worse so he thought i was miscarrying. Had an ultra sound done & i had a burst cyst on my left ovary. Most painful thing I've ever experienced. I wouldn't have checked it out if my mother hadn't pushed me to though so i guess i owe her one. X)
Anyway, hope your feeling better. (:
