    Setting up Nursery

Hi all, just wondering when you did or will start setting up your nursery, we are currently 22 weeks pregnant with our first child, and just wanted opinions of other mums or mums to be if now is too soon to start setting up our Daughters room?

Hi Bub2B congrats on waiting til 22 weeks!

we're coming up to 14 weeks (my timer is wrong) and i'm looking at stuff now... haven't bought anything yet (i did buy some socks and singlets - i couldn't resist)... just looking at whats out there - bargains etc. if i can resist the temptation i'll hold out as long as i can but i wanna have most of it by 30 weeks?

plus i think if you spread the purchases out over a period of time it's not so much of a cash shortage?

good luck with everythign, heaps of nice stuff out there

    Hi Bub2be,

I started the nursery during my IVF cycle. But this was only renos to the room such as painting, etc. Didn't want to be painting when I was pg. But as far as getting furniture and things I started at about 14 weeks. The room is now done and all I am doing is waiting for baby to arrive! Mind you I am only 25 weeks so we have a bit of waiting to do!!! Start whenever your ready.

We started setting things up at 24 weeks but we had to clean out (was our guest room) & paint the room first so we started doing that around 17 - 18 weeks. It's so exciting - enjoy!!!

    Hi,
We were planning to go and buy stuff around the 20 week mark this time! Unfortunetly they had a sale at baby co and that was it before we knew it we'd bought the whole lot!
Pre-warning some places have to order in it took 8 weeks for our cot to arrive!
My nursery was completely finished by the 25 week mark this time!
With my first 2 we bought stuff from when we knew I was pregnant and I still had alot of stuff from my second, where as this time we didn't have anything as we'd given in all away!
If I was you I'd start with the big stuff either purchuse or layby then move down to the smaller things later! That way if bubs arrives early you've got some of it organised!

    Best of luck!!!

I started setting up around 20 weeks... but that might have been more due to it being spring (spring cleaning and all that). We got the cot at around 30 weeks, and that is when we started to set everything up properly, and really clean up the baby room.

Around 22 weeks I started getting the nesty feelings...

If you have the room, then get it organised early i reckon. Our biggest hurdle is lack of space, so most things are on layby. So we've still "bought" them, they're just not taking up space.

There's a lot to think about and organise: clothes, furniture, nappies (esp. if you're doing cloth), not to mention PRAMS - have you looked at the variety to choose from???? That took us a month in itself!

If you feel nesty, then start that clucking!!!

I am 21 weeks and have kind of started. I havent gone and bought big ticket items but alot has been given to us so its already int he baby's room. I love going in there. I just need to find a cot I like. It is too hard to decide.

Are you doing a theme? Have fun

We bought our nursery furniture at 19 weeks and set it up almost straight away (couldn't help myself) Since then we have just been adding bits and pieces as we see them. We have also been given HEAPS of stuff which is great.

Hint: sometimes its easier to start with something major ie. furniture, theme or colour scheme - and then let everything else flow from there.

    Happy Nesting!

I started setting up the nursery around 20 weeks and have only just finished. I find myself spending a lot of time in there these days reading books and what not

I put my layby on after the 19 week scan and am hoping to get it all out the first weekend in November! Other than that DH gutted out the wardrobe and renovated it with the wire basket system thingo once I got my tax cheque, cause that paid for the renovation. Other than that I have nothing else other than some clothes that people have bought me. Ah thats right DH bought bump 2 goldfish last week and I set that up in his room. So he has 2 pet fish even before he is born.

    Bub2be.

I started setting up my babys room at around 20 - 22 weeks while i could still lift certain things. I have most of it done just waiting on my cot that will be here for xmas ( i hope ) but we are in no rush bubs is sleeping in a cradle in our room to start with, so we are taking our time.

If it makes you happy sweetie, then it's never too early - no matter what anyone else thinks
We just moved and so re assembled all of the big stuff we had in storage. Then all the other paraphernalia got chucked in there. I'm waiting for a weekend to myself to just get in there and play.

we bought he big stuff ie: cot, chest of draws at around 18 weeks. We wanted to start getting things early so we didnt have one big expense. I still have a lot to get but go shopping for certain things whenever there is a sale on.
We keep moving furniture around and playing with the room so start now so it can all be sorted in time.

I have just started to empty out the 2nd bedroom. It has been my study for years so it is full of junk.

Once it is emptied (another week or so) we will start buying the nursery furniture.

    It is so exciting

can i suggest, if you're after particular pieces, NOT waiting too long - some of it takes up to 12 weeks to get in to the store... you can always layby what you want if it's available, but if it's not, you can get the stuff in on time. would hate for you to set your heart on something and not get it on time
