You need more oxygen during pregnancy, for many reasons but all related to the fact that you are growing a baby! So your oxygen intake increases, this can happen very early in the preg.
As you get bigger, your uterus puts pressure on your diaphragm, and you might feel even more short of breath.
    But it is all normal.
If you have chest pain associated with it, or severe shortness of breath, then best get it checked out!

I had the shortness of breath this time - especially at night when going to bed. Rest assured though, that when bub starts to 'drop' or engage, it gets easier (but then all the pressure goes onto your bladder instead - you can't win!)

I'm not puffing but find it difficult to take deep breaths on the odd occasion and I'm only 17 weeks today. It's nuts!! That coupled with my damn blocked nose, is driving me potty.

    Hey Fel23y,
I feel breathless too sometimes, especially when doing things I normally do, such as climb stairs or walk up a hill. The light-headedness may be a sign of low blood pressure, so just take it easy and get checked out by OB/Midwife at your next appointment. There are other posts on here that talk about low BP, so maybe check those out

I am definately feeling breathless. Even walking very slow to work from the train in the mornings taking it extra easy makes me breathless at times. I find that if I am walking with a friend and chatting, it gets worse, and stairs (even about half a dozen) makes me tired. I think it's perfectly normal

Yep - i get it and find its getting more intense as the pregnancy progresses.

One of my sisters commented today that when i talk, i talk like ive just run around the block....so now...even talking is making me breathlessness !!!!

im getting more breathless too, especially when I go swimming, I find I cant do as many laps as before.
Plus, walking seems to make me breathless as well.. i feel like I dont have much stamina at all!

I am getting a lot more breathless,, i am usually very fit and find it quite annoying.
I first noticed this really really early on (like 8 weeks) when i was lecturing to a group - it was weird, i would be half waythrough a sentence and feel so out of breath - it was very obvious to me, especially as it is the same lecture that i give over and over! One of the girls in the group whole knows me, came up and asked me whether i was pregnant or not as i sounded it because of the breathlessness!!!
The stair are a killer now, but i am so determined to climb them as i am only 15 weeks to and figure i will start taking the lift when i am bigger!
