I am 18 weeks pregnant and I have notice my skin getting really dry- particuarly around my mouth over the last few months. I'm not sure whether its pregnancy related but I havent had it before. I have been using Nivia mosturiser, pawpaw ointment, rose hip oil, bio oil to clear it up but nothing has helped. Do you have any suggestions?
J-LO what other products are you or were you using on your skin, cleansers, moisturizers etc?
I'm usually an oily combo skin type but since falling pregnant my skin is a lot drier and I've had to shuffle a few products around. I'd use something like an hyaluronic acid serum on your face and neck (all over) followed by a rich but non-comedegenic moisturiser. These would help lock in and maintain moisture and you could also dab on a treatment product to the areas with the problem.
Drying or highly scented products can make the problem worse.
I emailed asking for a sample, and was blown away, when they sent me 2 little pots of each of their eczema and moisturising creams, and two blocks of their oat and milk soap!!
that was about a year ago, and we haven't run out yet
Cocoa butter is good on your body ,good for stretch marks too.Shea butter is also great & you can use a light layer on your face too.I find my rosehip oil more effective if i put it over the top of my moisturiser for extra hydration.I am using Trilogy products at present & they are really good for hydrating .If you are looking for a budget option Sukin is really good too.I use a solid body lotion in the shower for my body as it gets really dry & it has cocoa & shea butter in it ,the only drawback is the oils can make the bottom of the shower(or bath) a bit slick so you need to be careful.I've never had any problems with slipping though.
It also depends on your skin type and if your skin needs water-based moisture or more good oils. Not every dry skin problem can be remedied with rosehip or another oil as sometimes, as with naturally oily or combination skin, you have enough oils but you don't have enough water content. That's why things like hyaluronic acid can help as in these instances oils won't penetrate deep enough to rectify the core issue.
