It does sound like you have an infection and I think that you should take it. Keflex has a small chance of causing a problem in the first trimester according to one study however there are a few studies that say keflex will not cause any permanent harm to your baby. Keflex is a cat B drug mainly because there has not been enough studies in humans to say that it is completely safe. There have been a number of animal studies showing no harm was caused to the foetus.

To me it sounds like the diagnosis is correct - not sure about the script he gave you or if there are any alternatives, but there are some natural ways to try and help it get better faster... you'll still have to take medication but the symptoms may ease faster if you drink lots of water and cranberry juice...

UTI/bladder/kidney infections etc can all contribute to premature labour so I wouldn't take any chances with it - how far along are you?
