Question Help! sex in the second trimester

DB and I haven't had sex since the day after our embryo was transferred, that was 15 weeks ago. In first tri I was literally filled up with progesterone pessaries and creams in my vagina and had to rest to allow them to absorb. We didn't even think about having sex then.

Then after all the medications were stopped at the start of 2nd tri we fooled around one night and I O'd without penetration and I had these contraction/movement/cramp like feelings in my uterus for the next few hours which completely freaked me & DB out so we haven't gone there since.

However, I don't not want to have sex for the next 5.5 months if we don't have too. I think it would be healthy to have regular sex as I assume that O'ing can be good for internal muscle toning (I am just guessing here) in preparation for birth?

I am thinking it could be my uterus is out of practice and hence I felt the effects on my body after O more than usual? Is O more intense or the impact of it on your internal organs and uterus more intense when pg? Is this normal?

Anyone have any hints, advice or experiences they could share so we can relax and mentally feel more confident about giving it another go?

Its completley normal to have the pain you described after you orgasm whilst pregnant. Ive been told by many health professionals that its actually good to orgasm while pregnant. I did.. mayb 30 times from 6-40 weeks and im fine, bubs fine.

I wish i could give you more encouragemnt, but I am quite fearful of DTD, last time we did I had those crampy sensations for ages and baby jumped and danced all night long, perhaps it was enjoyment, but I was so stressed. It must be normal????
I figure there is plenty of time afterwards...I sometimes wake up having o's so my body is still keeping in tune lol:
These babies are so hard to get here that I find myself settings dates then when we get there it seems foolish to take the risk, so we wait a bit longer, and now we are at a stage where it is uncomfortable etc:

You are doing so great, I am super excited for you...I am sure your doc will tell you its fine to DTD. Ultimately its up to you and DH and if its stressful I don't think its worth it, for the bit of enjoyment...

Waking up having o's blackduckies! How do you do that? lol

Dusty, Orgasms are actually contractions of the uterus so this is very normal to have these crampy pains after o very normal, however, annoying. Maybe you should talk to your dr about this, having a professional tell you its ok might help you relax. You won't do any damage, there are a million books under the sun to tell you dtd while preg is fine so I guess just make it romantic and relaxing, candles, music, maybe even some rose petals (it has been a while may as well celebrate haha) I was about to say some wine but scratch that and just have some fun take the pressure off

    Hi Dusty,
My DH and I felt wierd doing it after we had out implantation. I felt like i had to walk with my knees together for days! But we got back into it and I also get the crampy tight feelings after O's, sometimes i have to sit down. DH and I havn't as much lately as im just getting too big and uncomfortable but like blackduckies, my body is making up for it with some really interesting sex dreams!
If your Dr says you are safe and you dont feel any pain other that the tightenings after O's then you will be fine. The endorphins and relaxing hormones you get will help keep you stress free which can only be beneficial for bubs.
So get some candles and chocolates etc and get to it beacuse you may not be able to in a few more months and trust me you will miss it!!!!

Thanks girls, you've made me laugh today with the sexy dreams ending with the big O, I've had them too!! I don't mind them since I haven't had the big O with DF for MONTHS....

Dusty, I think it's perfectly safe to O when you're pg. I've asked my OB time and time again and he just laughs at me and then I get embarassesd for asking! Before we got pg back in July 09, we had plenty of regular DTD, but then after I had my transfer, I refused to do it for aaaaaaaaages, thinking it wasn't good for the bub. With time I relaxed a bit about DTD, but I just never really enjoyed it much and never had the big O with DF during this pg unfortunately! I have woken up several times in bliss though, good enough for me!!

Go for it hun and enjoy it while you can!! My DF still gives me the odd poke here and there these days, and I feel so sorry for him so I give it (I do make sure he's very gentle and only puts a bit of his sausage in) but like the rest of the heavily pg girls, I am just uncomfortable now & just not interested! My poor DF

DH and I have always been sexually active while I've been pregnant. We've never let the pregnancy get in the way of it.

For me it is definitely! DH just has to kiss me and I get weak at the knees and O!! lol

I think i hate you a little bit now! LOL
Im lucky because my brain makes it happen while im asleep without any manual stimulation, but any actual friction down there just hurts. I know lots of preggo women say the extra blood flow makes everything happen way quicker and more intense, but for me I just get achy and sore. I feel so sorry for DH and i miss having a good ol rough and tumble! thank god for my brain or i would be going mad!!!
