This is something you probably hear from people that are much further along then me, however Junior who is almost 20 weeks has settled on its belly with elbows nicely tucked under, and lying face down horizontally across my belly.
This fine, however its postponed my U/S from completion twice. As we can see almost everything and get some good measurements however being in that position doing a thorough ultrasound of the heart is very hard. I also have an extra bit of fat between my belly and my babe...as its my third.
Has anyone got any ideas on how I could motivate this bub to move more, or change position. Its great that its happy and healthy. I'd just like to have it in a nice position by MOnday for our next U/S check.
I'm not really sure if this would work, but I have heard that shining a bright torch on your belly may encourage the baby to reach out towards the light. It might at least get the arms from being tucked underneath.
Jaqui, have you had a look at the spinning babies website?? They have some good ideas on how to get bub to move.
Also I would suggest getting down onto all 4's for atleast 20 minutes at a time a few times a day. Hopefully bub is compliant and moves nicely for you. There's still heaps of room inside so bub should move around quite freely.
I'm with Trish...I think getting mine to turn around was due to a combination of all fours and straddling the dining chair backwards so that I was leaning on the back of the chair so your pelvis is tilted forward. Also if you're getting BH a midwife told me during that time is a good time to lean over on the kitchen bench. Best of luck and I hope bubs co-operates with you!!
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Today at lunchtime is d-day. Hopefully she may have moved. If not well I guess we wait then till 32 weeks to see the heart in "coloured" view, and confirm the 60% pink baby suggestion.
I have tried all your things this weekend. I had a major increase in movements so I guess thats a great sign.
I cam out in a lot of bruising on my lower belly after the u/s and look forward to showing the ultrasound guy what he did to me today.
Jacqui, as I said it is quite normal for a 20 week fetus to still be in a breech position. Generally babies don't turnn head down for a few more weeks yet.
Don't stress over it hun. And be sure to give the US guy a good clip over the ears for hurting you

Well news is Bubs was happily on its back today head down, and whilst still difficult due to my BMI. It was successful in checking the heart. Also I got a better profile shot, and an 80% assumption of the bubs sex.
So I will happily motor along my pg now, and hope that we can avoid any further scans.
How do I encourage my baby to change position?
