How long do you have to take Folate tabs for?

I am wondering how long you should be taking Folate tabs for with twins?. I am taking the Blackmores pg and bf formula tabs and extra folate tab.
Do I continue to take this thru the whole pg.?
any advise welcome.

I took folate tablets only up until about 13 weeks, then I just switched to a pregnancy multivitamin (similar to the Blackmore's ones). I would say you probably only need one tablet, as I think too much folate can also be a bad thing, and the Blackmore's ones already have folate in them.

I took elevit.
The packet says the first trimester (I think) and then whilst BF
I just took it the whole time. Doesn't really make a difference I wouldnt have thought. I dont think large amounts of folate 'hurt's you, you will simply excrete any excess in your system.
Perhaps though you could stop taking the extra tablet and stick with your pg vitamins

The folate has done it's job for Bub by the time you reach 12 weeks, but there are other advantages for continuing to take it. Double check with your Ob, I took it until about 16 weeks cause I had just bought a new jar and Ob said just to keep taking it until I ran out. Was also taking Blackmores pregnancy Gold. I had a single pregnancy though.

I am 15 wks pregnant with first child and I am taking Elevit. The box says you can take them through whole pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding.

Hi i am also 15 weeks and i am taking the mineral and vitamin tablets by Natures works and it says you can take them before, during and while breastfeeding. I just take one a day.
