    Itchy Skin

The baby and I are obviously growing quickly at the moment and the skin on my stomach is really itchy. I walk around work scratching myself. I look like one of those yobbos from 70s TV shows. What have other people done for this? Should I be putting some lotion or oil on my stomach?

I am only 16 weeks and have been itching too! Although not my tummy, first I had a reaction to my wedding rings, I must have been scratching so hard in my sleep its almost blistered now! And my shins are really itchy! Its bizarre but I cant stop scratching them, they have not stopped itching for about 2 weeks now and are red raw from me scratching... I have never had dermatitis or exzema or anything like that in my life! I havent used anything yet was going to ask my Dr what to do on the next appointment, Im thinking sorbolene might help?

I'm only 9 weeks but I have been using Palmers Cocoa Butter in my breasts, stomach (especially lower stomach), hips and thighs and bum since I found out I was pregnant. It is supposed to prevent stretch marks but I've read that nothing will stop you from getting stretch marks if your genetically prone to getting them.

Also, it could just be the time of year too. The air tends to be drier which can cause the skin to itch. The cocoa butter is a little on the expensive side but I'm sure sorbolene will stop the itching (or at least reduce it). You can also use sorbolene instead of soap in the shower too which might also prevent your skin from drying out. When your finished your shower, slop yourslef up with sorbolene while the skin is still warm and wet and pat dry.

    Girls,

I was the same, was going to town on my legs and even scratching in my sleep! I went to the chemist and they were total life savers!!
I brought some pinetarsol gel for use in the shower on a loofah and used that once or twice a day. Then when I got out of the shower I used a cream that the chemist recommended which is safe in pregnancy and that was derm-aid. It was a total relief and within two days it had stopped me scratching!

    Might help you girls!

sorbolene is a good all over body moisturiser and you can get a lot for $3.00 ! I use this every morning all over. And the other product I love and use every night is bio oil!! Its fab and I don't itch too much except if I wear pantyhose (yuck). You can also have a bath with a few drops of the bio oil in it too which helps ...

Im 19 wks & have been itching like crazy, all over my tummy, boobs, hips & lower back, since about 12 wks. The best thing I've found like, ej1974, is the bio oil & also I take a dessertspoon of flaxseed oil once a day, when I remember, with some juice & find I don't feel as itchy on those days. Hope this might help someone else.

I have a similar thing, on my chest. it just flared up. Doc recommended not too hot showers, i am using dermaveen in the shower (when that is done i may try pinetarsol but do far it is working), bio oil and also paw paw cream.. it is taking the 'edge' off! as much as i hate to admit it, the hot showers REALLY make the itchiness flare up....
