    Question Linea Nigra

    Hello Everyone,

This is probably a silly question

Does everyone get the linea nigra and when should you normally expect it?

I don't have one yet (not that I mind) and just seeing if anyone else has missed out on it

I thought I'd missed out too but it appeared at about 26 or 27 weeks I think. Its just about gone now (thank goodness).

I had it with Izzy and it went up from my belly button too but I don't have one this time around at all.... Got a double dose of stretchies to make up for the 0 I got with Izzy though.....

I do get this weird patch of white going from belly button down though - its really odd, if my belly is hot then its all cold around my belly button and if my belly is cold then the belly button and this patch are all hot! Bizarro!

Tan - no strech marks yet - touch wood

Hollye - LOL I'm starting to understand what it must be like for my middle aged father with a massive pot belly I don't think he's seen his tackle in a long time and I sure as hell can't see mine ...LOL

I couldn't actually notice mine until after I'd had Oskar when the skin wasn't so... well stretched and smooth...lol.

I got mine at about 28-ish weeks, when my belly got big. It's only just going now. I was chatting to my mothers group about this the other day, only the mum's who had girls got the line and not the boys - interesting!

Mine started to appear a few weeks ago, very faint but still clearly there. First it was just below my belly button, but now I think I can see it developing above it as well.

It depends on your skin type & how dark light you are.

Darker skinned people are more likely to have linea nigra as well as other pigmentation issues. ie, darker/lighter patches.

I had quite tanned skin when I was pg with DD1 & I had it from my pubic line to my belly button, but after having a child I wasn't out in the sun nearly as much & didn't have it in any of my other two pgs.

I've heard that if it goes from the pubic line to the belly button it's more than likely a girl, if it goes right to the top of your belly its a boy!

I don't think I have one yet.... I am hoping to get one soon though! But if I miss out, no big deal I already have a few stretch marks and a hairy belly that keeps me amused

I never got one, but both my sister and sister in law did, they have slightly darker skin than me so I figure thats why!

I got mine in the third tri. I'm fair skinned so I didn't expect to get one as they say fair skinned ladies don't tend to get them. Mine was pretty pale - above and below and it's only just gone and bubs is 3 months old now.

I noticed a couple of mentions of stretch marks here. I didn't get any until about a week after the birth. I stopped rubbing my belly butter in when I gave birth - big mistake. Gotta do it for a month afterwards.

Stretch marks are actually genetic. Unfortunately no amount of moisturising & creams will prevent them if you are genetically prone to them.

My sister got one, I'm not sure when, but it was quite dark and noticable by the end of the pg. She has fair skin.

I have skin similar to hers, maybe a touch more olive, so I'm assuming I will get one... nothing yet though at 20 weeks!
