NT scan fine, bloods now make me high risk..HELP :(

    Help!!!!!
Im 25yrs old and DH and I had gone through 11ivf failed cycles including 3m/c.
As we called it quits we happen to fall pregnant naturally and I'm now 14wks 3days. Our NT scan showed no problems at all with a measurement of 1.5mm but the blood test showed we have a 1:49 chance of our bubs having a chromosome issue. I done a CVS test last Friday but I'm wondering if anyone has been through a similar situation. This has been such a joyess experience and we have been lucky to have this happen that now I'm petrified of the results . Also how long roughly will it take to get the results as the FISH was not available. I would really love to hear from people as im going insaine
    Thanks heaps xx

Congrats on finally getting your BFP

Think of it this way, if you had 49 babies, one of them would have a chromosonal issue. That could be your first of the 49, or the last. If the scan showed ok but it's the bloods bringing the risk factor up, then I'd say that chances are baby is ok - the blood they test is YOURS and shows the chances of you making a baby with chromosonal issues. Does that make sense?

Are you having the amnio? Would you terminate if it did have something wrong?

the blood they test is YOURS and shows the chances of you making a baby with chromosonal issues. Does that make sense?
That's not technically correct. The blood they test is the mothers, but the tests they do look for the levels of the hormones PAPP–A (Pregnancy Associated Plasma Protein–A) and free beta–hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin hormone) which are produced by the placenta. That means that the levels can differ from one pregnancy to the next in the same mother.

Tara, it sounds like your babies placenta might be making a little more hcg or a little less PAPP-A than usual, but based on your risk ratio please hold hope because there's a 48 in 49 chance the baby is perfectly fine. While that ratio is said to be high risk, those odds are still pretty good.

My fingers are crossed for you (and for doochydoo) that you get good news back from your tests ♥

Tara - not sure if you've already got the results of your CVS back yet? Just saw this thread today. Fingers crossed that you got a good result.
Doochydoo - Like Tara I had a good result from the 12 week scan and then bloods came back as high risk 1:24. I didn't opt for an amnio or CVS as I wouldn't have changed anything. We had our little girl in early May and all was fine. I hadn't bothered with the blood tests for my previous two pregnancies - perhaps ignorance is bliss?
Hope your amnio goes well and you get a good result.
Best of luck to both of you.

Hi and congrats on your pg!
My bloods came back at 1:29 chance of chromosomal issues. We also did cvs and got fish test back in 24 hours. The complete chromosomal results came back all good about 10 working days after the cvs. It's such a traumatic waiting game. I am now almost 23 weeks. How are your hormones and pap A?
Sending hugs. I know what you are gong through.

Thanks so much for all of your replys. I really wish i never had the blood work done and only the scan, i really am very hesitant to find out the results now and DH and I are going through this discussion atm as i now don't want to know. We wont be doing an amnio as we have done the CVS (Chorionic Villus Sampling) which is 99% accurate. I keep telling myself that if the scan was fine then all would be ok and it was just a "timing thing" as bloods were taken at 9wks and scan was at 13wks. Also im not sire about termination as i have such a bond with bubs i am so attached, yet DH wants to really considerate. Our OB said we have a 98% chance everything is ok but he never gave me my blood results (PAPP?MOM/HCG), also as we have been having scans from 5wks we have had no issues apart from me needing extra progesterone until 10wks, bubs has been in top health.

Isn't the risk factor they give you bloods, scan and age all combined? I had mine done and just age alone it was 1:360 then once combined with bloods and scan it was 1:7080.
I wouldn't worry yourself too much until your Cvs results come back. I'm not sure how long you have to wait sorry, hopefully someone else knows that.

My NT measurements at my ultrasound came back good, but my bloods suggested the pregnancy was HIGH risk. My DS was initially an identical twin until a dating scan at around 10weeks showed i'd had a likely missed m/c. That was the only reason for my HIGH risk blood results, and my carers urged me to not worry.
Not the same as you as your journey as such, but some similiarities.
I hope your journey is safe with a happy ending. xx
