    Movements

I know there is a thread about when you first felt baby kick and i am sure i felt it at 18 weeks.

I was in bed about to go to sleep and felt a distinct poke on my right side and continued for a while. (Wednesday night)

The next night the same happened and again on the Friday.

Then on Saturday and Sunday NOTHING! not one twitch and the movements the days before were so clear (at least i thought!)i haven't felt anything in the day

Now I'm stressing. can i go days without not feeling anything? how long do you leave it?

Ive tried everything, cold water, sweet food, even ice cream!

Yep you can go days. I was like you and got worried, i thought once i felt movement that would be it and i would always. And i had it in my head if i didnt then something was wrong. But bubs is still little and sometimes can be in a position where bubs is moving but you cant feel it.

When you first start to feel movements it can be sporadic because your baby is still really quite small & could be kicking / moving toward the placenta & you wouldn't feel it IYKWIM. As bub gets bigger you will feel movement every day, lots of times & it's only one you feel regular movements that movement stopping can be a concern

    What Sarah said!
I've felt 2 kicks so far. Mainly because bub is still so small, and also because of the position of my placenta. It's at the front and bub is behind it, so any movements bub does I don't really feel.

This PG is quite surreal in regards to feeling movements. During DS' pregnancy I hardly felt him move and looked forward but at the same time worried about every OB appointment , but like Jodi described this was because the placenta was at the front. This time I feel movement all the time as the placenta is on the back and can even see my tummy move (never dreamed I'd be able to see it too much left overs from the first pregnancy lol). But even with this there are days where I don't feel bubba move and worry. I guess it's part of it you worry all through pregnancy and never stop....

Take care and enjoy as bubba grows!

I felt bubs move for the first time at 16 weeks - but mind you this is bubs number 4, so i knew what to look for, and it took such a long time to feel it from the outside, DH didn't feel anything until about 28 weeks, i think he was just so little.

But once your bubs gets bigger, you wont stop feeling it...which is good, but also a pain during the night when all you want to do is sleep and they don't... The rolling and squirming can be so strong...lol

Don't stress, I had a scan because I felt less moevements, and as soon as the scan was being done, he wouldn't stay still, so i would say your bub is just too small, and in time you will feel it more and more...

The other girls are right. You could go up to another week or so with nothing before you feel him/her move again. At this stage you might also need to be very quiet to notice also such a lying down in bed as the kicks and movements wont get really stong just yet. The fact you have had some movements that you can feel already shows that bub is growing and strong. Its such a lovely feeling isn't it? It will come back soon and you will feel them getting stronger and more frequent as the weeks go by.
My first I was 19weeks when I first felt a movement and 15weeks with no2.

Like the other have said bubs is still small and has lots of room in there to move around in there, so perfectly normal to go days without feeling any movement.

I first felt bubs really early but on & off, I have the placenta at the front as well so I didn't feel the real strong regular movements until about 25-26 weeks and before this would go days without feeling anything and would always panic something was wrong.

Now as much as I love feeling it move around in there, I also complain that I would like a break sometimes, especially as I'm trying to fall asleep at night and it does it's bit to get comfy in there too

oh my gosh i am sooo happy i found this thread lol!

i first felt kicks at around 12 weeks with this bubba and then the whole belly moving thang from then on until, well, a few days ago, and now bubs is quiet as a mouse...and of course, what with m/s gone and no movement i am stressing lol! but i am assuming that bubba is more towards the back ATM as i dont actually feel them (i have been able to poke my belly and make bubs out...and then feel it wriggle away lol).

    waiting, waiting, waiting...

Current bubs i was lucky enough to feel at around 13 weeks, because it did not approve of the ultrasound that was being completed and did a big kick pushing the sonographers hand right off my belly. After that I didn't feel any more for weeks,

now the little blighter doesn't stop and should be getting the much needed rest for it's big journey

I found the cold water/ice cream ect never worked until much later in pregnancy when the baby was much higher up.

I started feeling movements around the same time as you and they would tend to be at the same time during the day, and yes I would go a day or so without noticing a movement.

At around 24 weeks though if I felt nothing I would gently push around my belly til I got a movement.

I didn't actually feel any movement at all until about 2 weeks ago and then he was kicking me for about 3 days straight.
I also got worried when I couldn't feel him move for a day or two but sure enough, the next day he was back again doing some dancing or something in there.

It could be that bub has just moved into a different spot where you can't feel it... Completely normal when they're still so small. Bubby could still very well be kicking away like mad, but possibly into your back or something that you just wont feel as yet.
Happened with both of mine, with my first I really freaked out and went to my Dr who did a scan and bub was kicking away, it had just moved, thats all.
It really doesn't matter how hard or soft the kicks are and feeling the kicks as the other ladies have said can come and go for days at this stage.

I wish you all the very best with the second half of your pregnancy. xx

    Hi Loula,

I remember having this question and worry with my 1st 2 pregnancies and from what I have read it is quite normal and just another thing for us to worry about, but quite normal.

I think they just get in to different positions and placenta takes up a bit of space and sometimes we're not as 'switched' on to the movements at different times of the day and might not notice something that could still pass as wind.

    Hope I was helpful..

I found with my kids they moved into different spots when they had the space and so you might not feel them much for a while if they had moved back. Erin used to "hide" from Daniel and you'd swear she'd popped over to another uterus LOL
