    A peace of mind scan.

That is what I am having at 4pm (gosh is it 4pm yet).

At the beginning of this pregnancy I was happy with a very minimal intrusion (might be the wrong word) antenatal care. One Ulrat sound, the Morph scan and that was it.

This afternoon will be my third and all before I have even reached half way.

I went for my shared care GP appointment this morning. I mentioned that I was able to feel both girls move by 13 weeks and felt external movement by 15 weeks but had yet to feel anything with this baby. I said maybe I have an anterior placenta. So I am anxious but not worried.

My (lovely) doctor gets the doppler out and for about 10 minutes searches around and nothing.

She says with a worried look (not very conforting), I think you should have a peace of mind scan today just to make sure everything is okay.

Okay, fine, ease my mind. She give me the referral and says 'the last thing anyone needs is to get to their Morph scan right before Christmas and get very bad news' 'We will squeeze you in after the US if we need to and go from there'.

I don't think she is very optermistic. I am though. It will be alright, everything will be fine, I just have a bubs that likes to play tricks on me. It has to be fine.

Both my bubs didn't pick up on a Doppler until after 20 weeks and I didn't start feeling them until around the time of my 20 week scan.
Everything will be fine and you probably just have a comfy hub who isn't into wiggling.. Yet lol :-)
    Enjoy seeing your bub again!

Hope it comes around fast and you see a healthy little bub. The placenta may be blocking movement and hearing the HB.

Thinking of you, hope bubba is hiding! I think its hard to pick up the heartbeat on a doppler that early

Gosh, I think she could have handled that a lot more delicately. Statistically, the chances of everything being well are far more likely than the alternative so I think her manner was a bit off. Best of luck lovely xxx

How far along are you? I thought you couldn't hear the heartbeat with a doppler until later. I'm sure everything is ok in there

I am just over 16 weeks. This Dr has done all me shared care with pregnacies and both times we got a heartbeat on the doppler early. (we looked it up to double check from her notes).

I think she is just been cautious and like she said I guess I would hate bad news a couple of days before Christmas. What will be will be and I am sure it is fine. This stowaway made me worry at the beginning and it is no different now.

    Thanks everyone

My third wasn't much of a mover until after the 20 week scan. Good luck with your scan, I am sure everything is fine.

Sometimes babies aren't in the optimal position to get the heart beat on Doppler. My ob struggled at around 16 weeks. It was just that baby had moved to a funny spot hiding from us.

I've also been told that it will depend on how much tummy fat you have - it act like insulation when they try to hear the heart beat.

Tummy fat is not an issue
