    SO So Tired

    Hey Everyone,

Just a little vent I think! Has anyone else found that they were more tired in their 2nd trimester than their first? I am unbelievably buggered at the moment. I know I shouldn't be complaining and I should be trying to enjoy the moments of this preganancy but this tiredness is killing me. I am sleeping like an absolutle log and getting a good 8 to 9 hours but am working a 86 hour fortnight. Has anyone got any tips for curving the sleepiness.......mmmm looking at couch in reception at the moment thinking how nice a nanna nap would be right now

    Hi Jess,

You are not alone. I am in exactly the same boat at the moment.

I am coming up to 22 weeks and feel exhausted all the time. I work a 40 hour week which doesnt help either.

I was on elevit and a folate supplement and then spoke to my Ob about how tired i was and he said to stop taking them and starting taking an iron supplement instead. I started this about a week ago and so far no change but i am keeping my fingers crossed it does.

Also he said to try and go for a walk each night. Which is easier said than done when by the time i get home my eye balls are hanging out of my head. So hopefully we will get to that bit shortly.

    Good Luck,

    Prue

Yep, I wasn't that tired in my first trimester, but now I am not sleeping well and really tired by the afternoon and night. It is hard to go out on weekends and have anything later than 10:30pm. I am usually in bed by 9pm

I am the same as you stillhoping. I am in bed everynight by 9.30 at the latest. This weekend just gone we had a surprise party for DH so i was forced to stay awake and entertain people until roughly 12.30. It just about killed me and i am really paying for it now, i need some tooth picks.

Hi everyone, Well I thought I was exxhausted in the 1st trimester with bad M/S but then 2nd trimester hit.

I work from home as I run a website and I am probably only getting 4-5 hours a week at the moment. Today I have done nothing but sit on the couch and I am still fighting to keep my eyes open.

I have had Chronic fatigue syndrome since I was 13 so I know what tired is... and boy this is like a really really bad CFS day.

I don't know how you ladies manage to work as well, no wonder you are all exhausted.

    Goodluck !!

Oh, I am so pleased to hear that other people are tired too. (That sounds awful!)

I come home from work, I work fulltime, give my little girl her dinner, her bath and then to bed. By that stage I am completely exhausted. Hubby gets something easy for dinner and I collapse on the couch. We don't get a balanced diet, and I feel guilty about that, but it is all I can do to get through the days.

Not only am I tired at home but I am useless at work. I just don't have motivation. It is okay when there are dramas and I have to run from one thing to the next but if I have to push myself I just can't.

I find that it really helps if you eat a lot of fruit and vegies and take a multivitamin. I was having chips or toasted cheese sandwiches for lunch/dinner (I work afternoon shift) and lots of bread and was feeling so tired.
Now I remember to take my multivitamins every day, have salads and at least 2 large pieces of fruit, heaps of water and I feel heaps better. Low and behold if I go and get a snitzel pack or something the next day I am exhausted!

I agree! So much for having energy in the 2nd trimester. Morv, I'm like you; completely unmotivated at work (not helped by having not much to do there).
I'm not sleeping well at all, plus my partner tells me I'm snoring badly (have blocked nose every night at bedtime), so he's not getting much either. Last night I ended up in the spare room in tears, and we had a fight about it this morning! Good grief.
Spare room won't be available forever - the bed has to go to make way for baby stuff. And how about that ol' thing about more intense orgasms (if I have one)?? Pfft!!!

Sorry, this was someone else's rant wasn't it...
    bad mood today....

Oh Suziette, I don't mind you hijacking at all, that's what it's here for!!

I had such bliss for the last three weeks, wasn't needing to go to the toilet in the middle of the night, but now I'm back to the mid morning 3am or so run to the bathroom.
It really disturbs my sleep and that irks me! I love my sleep way too much!

I've been trying to drink lots of water and also been walking twice a day and trying to get in lots of fruit and vegies but it doesn't seem to be helping! Maybe its just me!

The couch at work once again looks tempting! I was planning on working until the end of October - due November 15th but I am not sure about that now considering what i feel like at 16 weeks

    Anyway the joys of pregnancy!

my first trimester was a little trying both times on the tiredness front so you have lots of empathy and sympathy from little moi!!

i take elevit too and found that these have assisted me through both my pgs on energy levels as the iron is quite high and as someone else said a balanced diet really helps. I know it takes effort when your eyes are hanging outside of your head but its worth it.

Hope you get some energy soon,
    EJ

I am so sad! I am just coming up to the end of my first trimester (13 weeks, 3 days) & I was coming in here to ask when the 2nd trimester energy is going to kick in!! I am exhausted!! I get so easily frustrated at work, because I'm SO tired! In bed 8:30-9:30 each night, sleep for 9 hours & still exhausted! I'm great in the mornings, but flake out by about 1:00 in the afternoon!

Does anyone have some stories of hope??

Well, I've been taking iron tablets for just over a week now & I'm starting to feel better. I don't know if it's the iron, or if it's just getting into 2nd trimester, but I definitely do feel better!

I think good iron levels will def help and I definitely got a lot more energy back at about 15-16 weeks... that has stayed around and i have felt pretty good this tri (stay up til about 11.30 or so).... not like that drained feeling of first tri. Hope it kicks in for you all soon too!!

    Hi,
speaking of being tierd & work hours, just want to know what your workplace experiences are - are your employers flexible with your pregnancy. Don't know if I'm being silly but I have asked my workplace to be able to swap two of my 10pm finish shifts to day shifts and have been told by the store manger - "how am I different to anyone else" (meaning he didnt think I was any priority) he said I don't see what the issue is with working day or night shifts. This is stressing me a bit at the moment as I thought they would be more flexible, do you think that sounds unreasonable? I'm tierd at the moment so can't imagine how I'll feel in a few more weeks. I just thought that would be the healthiest thing for my bub but am I expecting too much from my workplace in regards to basic adjustments.

    First Bub Due December 9th

I know how you all are feeling - I found taking iron supplements has started to help me too (I only started taking them a few days ago) but am not feeling quite as tired but still out of breath!
