    Some advice please???

    Hi there,

I am just needing to find some answers as doctors are not helpful towards me at all!

i am 20 weeks pregnant and On Sunday night i had severe vomitting i couldnt even stand up, i vomitted about 5 times and it was very painful!
I then had servere abdominal pains every 15 minutes, ithought it may have been something to do with having to go to the toilet but ive been since then and no problems.
I now get the pains every couple of hours and its that bad for about 5-15 mins that i cant breathe! There is a small pain or cramp there all day tho and all night.

I went to the doctor yesterday who said she isnt too sure on the pains, but have bed rest as i also have a cold and moved house on the weekend she said to take it easy and if it doesnt go away by tonight to head up to the hospital.. Not very helpful at all!

So if any one can shed some light that would be great, as im starting to get worried but i can feel my baby moving around every now and again!

    thanks!

If you are concerned and not getting any better you could ask for a referral for an ultrasound. However, it sounds like it is probably part of the gastro. Hope you are feeling better soon xo

I think if you are still getting the strong abdominal pains to go to the hospital to get checked out. Forget the Drs if you are worried it will be worth the hossy visit to ease your mind.

FWIW - I have had bad constipation this pregnancy (sorry TMI) and I know that after I do have a movement I tend to get crampy but not as severe as yours sounds. It could very well just be your body adjusting after working so hard with all the vomiting.

Still I think if you still experience so pains to go to the hossy they may be able to offer something to help the smooth muscles relax and stop contracting (cramping) they will also do a check of bub but I am sure bub will be fine

I hope you get over your cold soon, I have one as well its just aweful!!

    Hi MsJames
It sounds like you could have a bug however I agree with the others, It is something that should be checked out

    Nae Nae and Ms James

Sorry don't know about the sympthoms you are currently suffering from but FWIW I have been talking Vitamin C supplements throughout pregnancy and have managed to avoid getting cold/flu so far (touch wood). This is despite hubbie getting heavy cold and several people in work smothering with cold at different times. I am just guessing but think the Vit C must have done some good. Might be worthwhile taking some.

    Cheers

MsJames, I know you probably won't find this terribly helpful but I've suffered similar symptoms to what you describe since my teenage years. Thankfully I only get it two or three times a year, but when I feel it coming on, by God, do I pray for death... I'm not kidding, the cramps hurt worse than being in labour. It's horrific.
No doctor has ever offered me a satisfactory explanation for what I go through, and most of them have just scoffed at me (bascially calling me a liar) and refused to even get tests (although tests for what, I have no idea - they seem as baffled as I do). The first time it happened we were travelling (in Townsville on our way to Cairns) and the pain was so bad the nurses had to keep giving me huge doses of morphine to stop me screaming in pain while they tried to xray my abdomen to check my appendix - I came extremely close to them just cutting me open because they thought if it *was* my appendix, they'd best not waste any time diagnosing it. It wasn't my appendix at all, they couldn't figure it out, and the next day the pain had subsided enough for me to go home. Now when I get it, it lasts anywhere between 12 hours and 4 days.

I was lucky to only get the pains once during my pregnancy with DD2, and she was totally fine - at the time I was petrified that I was losing her, but again my doctor wouldn't even send me for a scan to check that she was okay, just told me to let me know if she didn't kick more than once in a 24-hour period. So thankfully your doctor cares enough to refer you for scans to check things out.

I hope it all goes away soon, if it's anything like what I get every now and then I'm really feeling for you right now. I wonder if it might be a stress condition? Either way, it's not pleasant and I hope you feel better soon

Glamourcide- Wow that sucks! Im sorry you had to go through that!
I dont think mine is quiet as severe as yours! But still sucks! i think it could be something to do with ligament pains? Maybe, it sounds alot like it but doesnt say that vomitting brings on the pain so maybe i torn them or something, it says it could be associated with my appendix but i hope not! waiting on unrine test results to come back and that might tell us more! Its just a huge releif to know that my baby girl is fine!
I hope you dont get those pains too often now! Its not nice when the doctors treat you like your stupid and make out that your lying! Meanies

Only a suggestion but could the symptoms be caused by gall stones? Sorry didn't occur to me this afternoon when I read thread but just had a though now so logged back in.

When I had my scan last week (32 weeks) a gall stone showed up on the u/s. Now I haven't had any pain or anything but did usual "google search" when I came home. Apparently they can occur during pregnancy as like a lot of things inside the gall bladder doesn't operate as efficiently as it normally does which leads to deposits of calcium and something else building up which turn into stones. When the gall bladder is producing bile (I think) to help digest food it contracts which if there are stones squeezes the stones which cause the pain. (At least this is what I've read).

I'd ask your doctor to make sure your scan was taken by a machine that would also have been able to pick up if there was a stone in the gall bladder (and maybe bile duct). My stone has only shown up at 32 week scan nothing showed at 7, 12 or 20 week scans. All mine were done at property Ultra Sound clinic where the machines are a lot more powerful that those in doctors or OBs. If not get them to do another u/s - obdominal one this time so they can at least eliminate.

Hope this helps but doesn't just give you something else to worry about.

Keep us posted on how you go.

Hmm it could be gasto or a bug, although to be safe you could always go to the hospital , at least they will see u and give you a scan and check you out

Unlike your Dr did, that really annoys me when Dr's pass everything off so easily like that, we are so worried and see to know whats going on and they are like hmmm im sure your fine.

    come on!!

    I really hope ur ok
