Anybody ask their OB about this stuff?

    Hi Everybody!

I need, need, need to get my foils done, but I forgot to ask my OB about it when I had my first visit last month.

Has anybody actually talked to their OB about getting their hair done? I'm into my second trimester now, but desperately need my hair done. What do OB's say about this?

Also, my nails are needing their French acrylics as well!!

Need to know what the professionals say about this stuff, so I can rest easy!

    Thanks guys!!

you can get foils, color or anything the whole way through your pregnancy and it will not harm you or baby, most hairdressers get told this when they go to trade scholl,so go for it!!

Nails are fine too, I had mine done all the way through both pregnancies. I asked my nail technician & she had spoken to her OB (we were pregnant together) and he said it was fine for her to work fulltime doing it so I figured an hour every three weeks was fine for me

    Thanks for asking that Ange!!

I've got re-growth down to my knees, and have been wondering the same thing, but like yourself, I keep forgetting to ask Dr!!

At least now I can rest assured that while I might be feeling emotional, over-tired, sore, over-whelmed etc etc, when bub's arrives, at least my hair will look damn good lol

Im a hairdresser & I hadf my hair done numerous times during my PG, as have a lot of my friends and our bubs all turned out fine.
If you are concerned just stick to foils because the colour isnt on your scalp

I asked my hair dresser this as well. I was about 8 weeks along when I saw her. She said that pregnant women are usually more sensitive to strong smells and the scalp is extra sensitive. I end up getting my hair done and just breathed through a tissue when the smell got too much. I had peroxide as I was going blonde. I have had it done twice now and everything seems fine. But have the main scan tomorrow. I opted to stop with the nails as I didn't like the idea of being stuck with the smell for an hour a fortnight. It took a while for my nails to recover but now I am pleased I endured it as they are quiet lovely now. Plus I am saving that money to spend on the baby.

I spoke with my hairdress when first pregnant and he said it was abcolutely fine! Not sure about the nails - guessing as it doesn't touch your skin would be fine....good luck with the smell though

foils are fine according to most. My ob last pregnency said there is no danger. I would stay away from those acrylic fumes though. Maybe get a regular mani instead

don't know about bleaching hair but i read that colouring your hair could be a prob due to the hormones in the body and the colour not turning out properly. They advise not to get it done for aesthetic purposes. it may not turn out the way you hoped it would!

I was learning how to apply the acrylic nails while pregnant with #3 and never had a problem with it. My instructors said it was ok as well. So if you want them.... keep going. As for the hair it is also ok as the solution they use doesn't touch the skin/scalp. It just might turn out a different colour as your hair chemistry changes while pg.

LOL I asked my OB! He said yes it was fine, ideally you would not coat your head in colour (so go for the foils) but ultimately as long as you aren't drinking the hair colour, not a problem.
