    spotting and bleeding

    Hi,

I'm 18 weeks pregnant and I was so scared to find myself started viginal bleeding. It was only very light pink spotting in the beginning, I went to the obs and he did a very simple check and said it's placenta abruption, and didn't know what the cause could have been. I've been resting in bed for the last two days as suggested and this morning I found the bleeding gets a bit worse(fresh pink color blood with tiny clots), I called the doctor and he said nothing can be done just hope that the placenta will stop seperating from the wall of uterus. I'm very concerned because from what I read placental abruption doesn't normally happen before 20 weeks? and shouldn't more exams be done to determine the cause of bleeding? I hope anyone had similar experience could give me some ideas or share their stories.

    Thanks alot,
    tt

TT, I am sorry to hear what you are going through. In the mean time, try to take it easy and put your feet up... Just remember to stay in bed as much as you can until the placenta stop separating. I once took care of someone with this problem, and she really had to go on bed rest for 1 full week! I wish you all the best. You are in my prayers and thoughts!

this happened to a friend of mine but she didnt find out till 30 weeks - her baby went full term and was born very healthy. it must be a scary time for you but you must get as much bed rest as possible. if you are worried, maybe call the doctor again and see if there are any other examinations which could be done.

i wish you all the best.

Thanks Loula, Carmen and Beccas for your nice thoughs. I went to the doctor again today and he had a check and found out the bleeding could have been caused by a cervical polyps. I'm so relieved now, and it's so nice to know that when I needed, there were suppotive people like you out there. It's been a short but scary time, now my heart goes out to people who are suffering any sorts of problems. Best wishes for them.

TT, I am so happy to hear the wonderful news. Yes, I definitely feel for anyone who is going through concerns especially not being able to know if they are miscarrying or not. I had my moments too when I spotted. Luckily, BB is a very supportive group waiting to hear our moments and is readily available to support our emotional needs!
