And I have serious back pain and spasms to join the aching hips and siatic (sp) pain!! The pain is bringing me to tears and most times i can cope with it. I've been using the hot wheat bag and having hot showers, had a few physio sessions with another one tomorrow.
I'm only 13 weeks....i still have another 6 months!!!! It's going to get worse the bigger the baby gets!!!
ARGH!!!!!!!!
So apart from these (oh and the massages DH gives me to ease the tension) what else can I do??? Has anyone had success with accupunture?? I use a gym ball to sit on at work and swap between the lounge and gym ball at home to sit on, i've been really concious of the shoes i wear for work and taking the wheat bag to work.
I thought I was just imagining my back pain - and now you're telling me it's not in my head?? bugger.
Sorry you're getting it so bad. Have you considered Chiropractic? I always thought they were shonky... until I went to one. Changed my mind on that forever.
Hi Sunshine, I had severe back pain all the way through my 1st trimester and half way through my 2nd, in tears every moment of every day, couldnt even drive the car (manual) Had professional massages but that only gave relief for about the 1st half hour then it was back.
I couldn't take decent pain relief, (panadol did nothing and have bad side effects to codine which ofcause is in panadine) Dh bought me one of those massage thingies that sit on your chair but that seemed to agrivate it worse. In the end, the only thing I could do was lie on my back (or better yet float in water) as often as I could cause even sitting up would put pressure on it and worsen the pain. Eventually, The pain took longer to return and now have none.
I would have loved to see a ciro but no-one could reccommend a good one to me and couldn't afford to end up seeing a dodgy one YNWIM.
I know it doesn't help much cause you can't exactly lie down at work but maybe every other chance you get? The bath REALLY helped me, especially floating in there on my belly (I put a bit of muscle relax in the water). It seamed to reduce my swelling and took all the pressure off for me and relaxed my back muscles. (this will help your ciatica too, I get it bad the heavier I get and had it bad at the end of my 1st pregnancy)
Hope you get some relief soon! As entreat suggested, maybe a ciro would help, and accupuncture wouldn't hurt either.
(my ob said to me, don't stand when you can sit, don't sit when you can lie down and don't simply rest when you can sleep!)
I was having the same problem and went and saw my naturopath. He did some accupuncture and massage and gave me a few excercises to do that helped SO MUCH.
My work also got me a foot rest (I work in an office) because the naturopath told me that crossing my legs will only make it worse.... and this seems to have helped as well.
AND I have a bath every night after work, no excuses It seems to ease away some of the tension from holding everything together all day if that makes sense?
