trouble with doppler and finding heartbeat

    Hi guys,

Has anyone else had trouble with their doctor not being able to pick up a babys heartbeat on the doppler? I'm 16 weeks and the doctor couldn't find one on monday but i had a scan and the babys alive and well. Is this normal?

Its never happened to me but a girl i used to work with had it happen to her twice and each time bub was fine. Obviously it freaked her right out but the scan put her mind to rest each time. The explanation they gave her was that doppler wasn't strong enough and also bub was in a difficult position and kept moving away

I was over 17 weeks before a doppler was able to pick up bubs heartbeat and even then my middy found it quite difficult.

Have they mentioned where your placenta is? It's probably just in the way this is what is stopping me renting one for home! Way too common for it to not find anything and scary when that happens!

Great that you got another scan though and got to see baby again! I'm sure baby was just hiding so that you got to say hello again!

It can be quite difficult to find the heartbeat at 16 weeks with a doppler.
