Ok it is all dependant on the hospital, each hospital has different criterea for when to resusitate. For example, some will intervene prior to 24 weeks IF the baby shows fight, others will attempt te resisitate, she is in the very grey fuzzy area and there is no definite answer a to what they will do, but I do know quite a few prems prior to 24 weks, twins included, and they have come through, but it is a very long and difficult road
Like RB has said 1 day inside is 3 in NICU, so every day she bakes is a blessing.
Giving that she is 5cm it is going to be a tough road, she will be on strict bed rest, nifedipine, possibly magnesium, steroid shots, AB's. It is very unlikely that she will be transferred back home, unfortunately she and the bubs would be staying in Sydney, and bubs wouldn't make the transfer until they are stabilised enough to travel as well, most likely not requiring ventilation or CPAP.
I'll PM you some info that you may want to pass on where she can talk to some people who have been through what she is going through.
I truely hope and pray she can keep on baking her two precious little bubbas :hug;
Stay put little ones! No need to rush into the world yet, there's still plenty time for that!
Beema has covered pretty much everything
When my waters broke at 24+3 & 3cm, we were asked to make the decision if we wanted resuscitation to take place or not I was placed in strict bed rest and had nifedipine, steroid shots and AB's.
There were a few sets of twins in the NICU, most of them 26w-32w. Those that were from interstate generally did not get transferred to a hospital closer to home til about 34-36 weeks (if bub was stable enough to be transferred) mainly due to the majority of families coming from regional area's and hospitals in the area not being equipped to care for babies of a younger gestation.
that your friend and her bubs are able to hold on a number of weeks longer. Will keep them in my thoughts & prayers.
On a lighter note:- If you ever do anything like that again Leesa (I was very excited for a brief moment), I'm just going to have to sit in front of the TV with a big tub of Homer Hudson ice-cream
oh gosh!! i thought u were gunna announce twins lol i got excited lol

i think that she is in a good place here in sydney...

i agree too i dont thinki the transfer thing will happen anytime soon.. do they have fams here in sydney?
i think they should prob look for somewhere to make a cosy place look like we will have some company here in sydney for a while...
fingers toes hands arms legs everything crossed that the lil boys stay put n let their mumma go when its right...
Turns out she didn't have twins at all!!! She was going thru IVF and was already 1.5 wks pregnant naturally with a boy, at the time she had IVF and conceived a little girl. They were in separate sacs.
Unfortunately on Wednesday she was fully dilated and she gave birth to her little angel, Isabella Kate.
However the little boy is still 'on the inside' and she has been having shots of steroids etc to help strengthen her son's lungs. All going well he'll be born around 28 wks (in a fortnight from now).
Thank you all for your well wishes and thoughts (and sorry for giving the impression that I was having twins )!
Wow! That's gonna be a news story for sure! Two babies born 2 weeks apart to the one mother that aren't twins. Incredible!
Congratulations to your friends on the birth of Isabella, and fingers crossed the little guys stays put a little longer! Hope they're all healthy and doing well
Leesa, just to clarify .., is the little lass now an angel flying free? Sorry, that was my immediate impression. So very sorry for your friend's loss.
Hope her mum can keep baking her little brother as long as she possibly can.

What a story.. How sad for your friend to lose her little girl. Lets hope her brother stays in long enough and is ok... Sweet dreams little baby Isabella.. What your friend must be going through right now.. Sending lots of hugs her way..
So sorry to hear that precious Isabella Kate has joined all the angels in the sky. May she watch over her family, keeping her little brother safe and tucked away whilst he grows bigger and stronger.
And - I'm happy to announce baby Joshua was born safely on Saturday afternoon - weighing in at a tiny 750 grams!
AND - he's breathing by himself already!!! Love those premmie soldiers!!
Mum is doing well (c/s) and considering her interstate location is being very well looked after by their employer (given accomodation within 2 mins of the hossy where Josh will be / a car to travel to and from in) and a close friend will be taking over some more personal items to make their stay a bit more 'home like' this Friday.
