    weight gain

I was just a little curious as to the normal amount of weight people have gained during their pregnancies and at what ammount of weeks they started to gain, etc.

I was 84 kilos at the begining of the year.
I am now 14 weeks pregnant, and i weighed myself, and im 79 kgs!!!!
I have a big baby belly starting, and feel as though i have definately gained weight, and by looking in the mirror i was sure to weigh atleast 86 or so, however i was quiet shocked that i was down in the 70's

I told the doc, and she didnt seem too concerned...
I just hope nothing is wrong, because its obvious that i should be gaining weight, not losing it.

I thought perhaps i had lost it between weighing myself in january and weighing myself now... maybe im just slowly gaining it back again...

but i was a bit worried.

When and how much did you gain during your pregnancy??

In your first trimester, it's not unusual to lose a bit of weight, or at least not put any on, because if you feel unwell, you might not feel like eating as much.

Haha. Well, just keep an eye on things then. If you're eating healthily, feeling fine, keeping hydrated, then you should be okay. Your body is working hard to help create a new life, so perhaps your body's been burning energy in that way, rather than storing it as fat?

I lost in my first trimester - each Obs appointment would show a loss of weight - Obs wasn't worried

Then at my last appointment at 19 weeks, I had gained some weight (finally). I agree with Nelle many people either have a loss of weight or maintain their pre-pg weight in the first trimester and some even have very slow gains in the beginning of the second trimester

i lost 12kg's before putting on any weight which was only about 3weeks ago when i was 26weeks (currently 29weeks)

i share care with my GP and he wasnt concerned about the weight loss yet OB at the hospital was more worried that im overweight.

my other 2 pregnancies i gained only 10kg's each.

I too had only put on 1.5 kilos at 24weeks pregnant. I have now put on 8 kilos and I'm 34w. I even had my endocronologist tell me I didn't have to put on any weight. In effect telling me that I should be loosing weight as the baby gained weight, thus maintaining my pre-pregnancy weight. HA! Good luck lovey. So anyways, 8 kilos so far.

    Bummer. Just lost my post.

With DS, I gained 20kgs and could eat anything and everything.

With DD, i initially lost weight and then gained gained about 750g-1kg per month, in all gaining about 9kgs after my loss. My mum was really worried about me not eating as much as she would have like me to, but i couldn't. I suffered really bad heartburn and nausea throughout the 9 months.

My DD was born heavier than my DS even though i gained half the weight.

Each pregnancy is different. Don't be too hung up about the weight gain. As long as your feeling well and your dr is happy with how things are travelling, weight gain doesn't matter.

    Good luck.

I'm currently 21 weeks. I started my pregnancy at 60kg. Here's my weight loss and gain so far:

    Week 10: 61kg
    Week 16: 60kg
    Week 21: 64kg

I should point out that I'm only 163cm tall and I had morning sickness from week 6 to week 15 (no vomitting but severe nausea 24/7). Since feeling well again, I've been eating like a horse and the weight gain shows that!

Running those numbers, thats 6% in 3 months, which is an acceptable amount. Its common to lose in the first tri, it really just depends on how much as to whether its a problem. It should do an about face now and start going back up and you will be longing for the days of 79kgs! LOL.

Oddly though, I still weight less than pre-pregancy and yet still feel like I need a crane to help me get off the sofa.

Well, I feel like a big fat heffer and since finding out how much weight people have put on in my belly buddies group, @ 23 wks I have gained 9.5 kgs!!

I feel fat, ugly and disgusting and now am thinking about every single thing I put in my mouth. I was 66 kgs at conception. Put on about 5 kgs @ 14-16 wks and now just feel gross. I have heard the less you put on the easier it is to get off so obviously if I push past 10 or 12 by the end, I think I'll cry.

Sorry, just feeling like a slob.
