We have our booking in appt at the Hospital next week, and just wanted some info on what to expect? Do they show us around the hospital, do we book in for classes etc?
We also have an appt with the Ob later that day also, and just wondering if it is normal for them to put the doppler on your belly each time you see them, (he did last time) and I am hoping you girls say they do that each visit? I thnk this time I see the midwife though so fingers crossed she does it?
at my booking appt for the hospital the mw did a detailed medical history, explained each of the care types available, gave us lots of info and did general obs like blood pressure, weight, bubs heartbeat etc.
our hosp. recommended booking for classes at around 20 weeks, and there was a designated tour time as well where they take a few couples around.
i had my booking appt on monday. as leasha said they take a detailed med history (and keep in mind ANY conditions your folks may have...mine have type 2 dabeties...thus i have to have that stupid 2hr sugar thingy ) and we also got a bounty bag. it had some samples some mags...and some random cr@p. they also booked us into the classes (maybe because im 19 weeks already....) and gave me a sheet of A3 paper (folded) that i have to take to each appt. and they gave me the dates for the appts. but im at a public hosptial in frankston so i have to have a "mw clearance" with an OB first...so im not sure what to expect from a strait OB (this is my first bub too...) i know with the classes you have a tour of the mat. ward and alike and get to meet the MW ect...plus they are happy to talk to you about any conserns you have/what you want the birth to be like ect and the type of care (frankton has 'team' care - same MW through antinatal till post pardom- or normal MW care...)
if you can think of anything to ask write it down - i should have done that and forgot half my questions
hope it all goes well! happy human growing!
Hiya. Congrats on your pregnancy
I saw the middies at hospital and we listened to bubs on the doppler each visit.
I had to book in for classes at a later stage, I think around 30-33 weeks? And we took a tour as part of a planned 'information/meet the midwife team' evening.
All the best for your birth!
