33 weeks and cramping ... a lot. Help!

    Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this before.
This is my 3rd baby and I am 33 weeks along. Last night I had bad night sweating and period like menstral cramping. Not huge labour pains but enough to make you stop and really take notice. Also I am pretty sure I may have had some amniotic fluid leaking as well as there was a weird order and today when I wipe its kinda light light pinky hello but really watery. My stomach feels so tight and even if i press on my bell about an inch above my belly button, it makes me feel like I need to go to the toilet.
I thought braxton hicks were not supposed to hurt. I also haven't noticed any tightening, just pain for 1 min or so. Should I be thinking about what goes in my hospital bag or is this going to happen for weeks.

see your GP or go to ED, I can't recommend it enough! You've done this bizzo before, and that fluid sounds pretty much like a show. The cramps combined make you very succeptible to early birth, IMHO. Please let us know if everything is ok or anything is needed. xxxxxx

I too would go get checked out at your maternity hospital. Especially seeing as you have both cramping and different fluid then usual.

Hun I would be getting checked out too. The cramping could go on for weeks, but the fluid concerns me.

Definitely go and get checked. You could have an infection of some sort or be in early labour. Dont leave it at all.

Give your hospital a call and chat to a midwife, that can be super helpful. Based on the cramps coming in waves, I think there's a pretty good chance they'll tell you to come in. All the best.

Well I went in yesterday morning and they monitored me with the ctg, checked my cervix and sent me for an ultrasound. It turns out I had leaked or am leaking some amniotic fluid, I was having minor contractions and with the ultrasound they could see that my cervix was short, around .9. I stayed last night and really wanted to go home today as those beds drive me crazy with a huge belly! so they said bed rest , monitor your baby's movement and your temperature and if I get contractions again to time them and come back in tomorrow and we will examine me again. I was also given 2 shots of a steroid to mature my baby's lungs just in case it was born early, its lungs would be more mature. so there you go. It does pay to listen to your body and not be a stubborn old fart like me.

It's hard isn't it?! On days when I was super tired or sick like I am now with a cold (with one week til my due date - excellent timing )I have found ABC4kids and DVDs have been very useful! I lay on the couch with my feet up and close my eyes but am still in the same room. It's not ideal but it's something.

I spent a lot of time on the couch kanda. My DD soon learned to bring stuff to me. Resting on the couch/bed/floor is still rest. I found DD much more able to cope if she could see me and 'be' with me. Just no walking around far or standing long.

Really glad you got it checked.

Just went to the loo and there is a big blob of cmplug. NOW I'm a little bit concerned.. I haven't packed my bag or even got the cot ready or unpacked any baby clothes.

kanda's baby girl arrived at 9.57pm on 13th September (which I think was around 34w5d). She weighed 2.57kg, measured 44cm in length with a head circumference of 32cm. Mum and baby are both doing well.

Call the hospital, see what they say.
Then write a clear list (maybe even two, one 'bring from home' list and one 'grab from the shops' list) so if you end up at hospital, your partner, family or friends can bring what you'll need. And I guess pack a small 'things I'll want if I have to leave now' kind of bag? Maybe undies, pjs, phone/camera, facewasher/wipes...dunno - whatever you'd want if labour started NOW until someone could bring the rest.
All the best, hopefully it's all a non-event for now. Just making suggestions so it's not so much of a freakout for you if you do have to go. xo
