33wks - could bub have dropped?

This is my second pg (my DS is 19 months) and I'm a couple of days shy of 33 weeks. This morning when I got out of bed, I actually leaked a tiny bit before making it to the loo (yeah, gross ... sorry if TMI - I should've kept up with those pelvic floor exercises). Since then, every now and then bub moves and puts so much pressure on my bladder/nether regions, it's really uncomfortable. So uncomfortable, in fact, I've called in "sick" at work as I have a long bus commute, then a 10-15 min walk to get to my office. Thankfully I only have another week to go before I start mat leave.

My question - could the bub have dropped? Physically I don't think I look any different. But I've never leaked before, and certainly haven't felt the weird pressure in my nether regions that I have on and off this morning. I certainly didn't have this when pg the first time round. I thought after your first bub, the second didn't drop until closer to its arrival time? Pregnancy sure can be weird at times!!

If I feel any weirder, or worried, I'll call my Ob, but I don't think this is any sign of an ultra early arrival.

    Welcome any thoughts ...

I just came across my DS's medical notes/ pregnancy book yesterday and it said he was engaged at 32 weeks. Though he was my 1st, I'm not sure if it will be any different or to expect any different this time round.

I was 3/5 engaged with DD from 28 weeks and had DD's hand in my groin pretty such that entire time! I use to say, it just feels as though bub is going to just fall out! Everyone told me I looked really high and even when I was due everyone said to me bub was way off as I was still sitting so high, butI looked the same the entire 3rd triemester! Even when I was fully engaged and in labour, bub still looked really high, so I don't think our tummy's always show where bub is sitting. Bub could very well be right down low.
I hope your bub is nicer than mine and doesn't stay down there until you deliver!

My little guy seems always to be firmly head down in all my scans... And I have that low pressure feeling too... not fun or comfortable... but hopefully a good sign for labour...

Yes your baby could have dropped. And from what you are saying it sounds like it has. This does not mean that you will go into labour early. Also your baby could decide that it does not like being so low and decide to move back up a little.

Bub has been head down for about six weeks, so I'm betting that he/she has decided to drop down. I'm getting some strong and heavy kicks in the rib area still, so I can only assume bub must be happy enough. I remember with DS that he started to engage several weeks before he was born (even though I don't recall feeling quite this uncomfortable with him), so given I'm 33wks, I guess it's really time things started to head south.

Pish - eeh gads about DD's hand virtually in your groin! You could well be right about our tummy's not necessarily being a good indicator of where bub is.

Rufalina - I had a good, shortish natural labour (5 hours) with DS, so fingers crossed for the same with this bub.

Thanks everyone else for your thoughts and advice too. Appreciate the replies.

Have a (regular) Ob appt on Monday, so I guess all will be revealed as to why I'm feeling like I do!

    Cheers, Andie
