    Acupuncture to Induce Labour??

    Hi all,

I went to an acupuncture session today. Not to specifically induce, but to 'prepare' etc. I have mild preeclampsia so my OB won't let me go over my EDD, which is next Sunday.

I am really hoping to go into labour naturally without the induction.

So, how many of you have had acupuncture & did it work for you?

    What were your experiences?

I should add, I have been extremely crampy the last few days and have lost some plug yesterday & today. Plus I have a very very sore JJ.

    Thanks!

I had three sessions with DD2 and it did nothing for me - but I've heard plenty of great success stories!

I hope you go spontaneous and before the EDD! Good luck!

oo, you've lost your plug. It will likely be within the next 48 hours (maybe not, but given your gestation it's pretty likely). acupuncture is one of those things that only 'work' if your'e just about to go into labour anyway. Sounds like you're very close. Rest up and all the best!

Sounds like things are on their way already. I didn't have accupuncture, I did have reflexology to try and induce labour naturally. It didn't work for me.

What is 'mild preeclampsia'? And you can choose to take your Obs advice or not, its not up to them to 'let you' or not do anything. Being pregnant does not take away your decision making ability, no matter what the circumstances.

Thanks for all the replies! xox

My blood pressure is too high and I'm full of fluid. So therefore he believes it would be best to induce soon after my date. I have also researched this. Im aware that being pregnant doesnt take away my ability to make decisions. I'm choosing to take his advice as I've never been through this before and I trust him. I picked him for a reason.

It didn't work for me. But I hope it does for you. Sounds like you'll be able to make the best choice for you as far as induction goes.

    Happy birthing!

With DD1 I had 3 sessions of the full on induction AP after I was past 41 weeks I think.

With DD2 I had some mild stuff to just 'get ready' and she was only 2 days late.

I had been having AP all through both pregnancies though. to prepare.
