Red face another q about breast pumping

i am booked in to be induced on wednesday and have read that using a breast pump can help bring on contractions... i also read which i thought was a bit strange that u can run out of colostrum??? and then the baby dosn't get it at birth.. could that be right??? sounds silly but i suppose it could be true??? ive been having pretty strong braxton hix that u could almost call regular so i was thinking it might be time to try something? so many questions so little time lol

i don't know if i would use a breastpump, but nipple stimulation can bring on labour (provided you bubs is ready to go). i have always been led to beleive that you should only stimulate one nipple at a time though and too much stimulation can lead to the baby becoming distressed.

as for running out of colostrum, i would think that yes it certainly was possible to run out. it only lasts for a few days, and your real milk comes in as a response to the baby sucking (or the breast pump).

Yeah, I wouldn't pump it, but i don't think it runs out. I was leaking from about halfway thru, and I had no problem feeding him.
