    Hi All!!

Well, i went into labour good and proper at about 4pm last Wed and Owen arrived shortly before midnight. i was 7cms dilated when i arrived at the hospital and the Obstetrician was there doing an emergency C-section and broke my waters (without asking!!) to hurry things along (so that he could go home)... this p1ssed me off good and proper, but at least they still let me hop in the bath, so it didn't really alter too much... it was a relatively long pushing stage again (about 90 mins), and even after his head came out they had to wrestle the rest of him out he was so plump around the middle!! it wasn't a pleasant labour, but i managed it without drugs again which is what i had hoped for, and i didn't even need stitches (i had LOTS last time, and quite a traumatic return to sex life as a result), so i really have nothing to complain about!!

Poor little Owen was definitely over-cooked though - his hands and feet were REALLY wrinkly and all his skin peeling... he is still peeling all over and is not very photogenic, but is otherwise absolutely perfect!! he is a fantastic feeder compared to my daughter, which has also been a lovely surprise...

He was born at 9lbs 7oz, so had already outgrown some of his clothes!! oh well!!

thanks to you all for your support - it helped me get through those last few difficult days!!

OOOh thanks for the update and mini birth story!!! Welcome Owen!!! And that is so good about not needing stitches! That's often the upside of a long pushing stage.... same happened with me and my last baby, also a 9 pounder, long pushing stage but no stitches despite him being born with his arm up over his face!!! Enjoy your well earned babymoon Ella!!!!

mbear - i have just sent my mum to do some shopping for me, and on the list i have bigger nappies!! we have been trying to get through the newborn ones (we have heaps of them), but they just don't cut it at all!! my daughter was in the newborn ones for AGES (like at least 6 weeks), and he has outgrown them already... congratulations on the arrival of Harry too! i have not been on bellybelly much since my first pregnancy so missed your whole 4th pregnancy and birth!! glad you got the boy you had hoped for as well!!

also nice to hear from my other original belly buddies - cally, marydean and preagainpan!!

.ahh yep, i hear you there. I still have a box and a half of newborn nappies....and here i was thinking we would save a bit of money by not buying nappies for a while.........LOL....
