Apparently i had a S&S and it didn't work!

I've just had a look through my antenatal card and the OB wrote down she performed a S&S, she did the internal and said she had stretched me to 2cms but didn't explain further.

I had a bleed a few hours later, then had what i suspect was my bloody show (lots of blood tinged mucous) but no contractions at all! i had a few period type pains but nothing else.

Does that mean it didn't do what it was supposed to do? Can they do it again?? Ive read a few articles where its done before an impending induction to try get things going and tomorrow i have a check up to discuss the possibility..

I had a S&S and it didnt work. Didn't have another one after that. Waited for spontaneous labour about 10days later.

Wow that is odd they didn't ask you beforehand? Did she just tell you she was checking your cervix? Sometimes they will do that but usually tell you they might do the 'sweep' of the membranes at the same time. She didn't stretch you to 2 cms - the stretch part doesn't really do that but if your card says you are 2 cms already, it means all the prelabour you have had is doing what your body needs to do! FWIW I had 3 s&s's with my last one when I was 3 cms dilated, and other than a few ctx's I never went into labour. Just remember bub will come when he/she is ready.

I had two that didn't work, maybe three. Can't remember.

Pretty poor communication if you didn't know that's what happened.
