    Question Babies heart rate

Im not too worries about this, but its something that everytime they say it it makes me wonder..

whenever they check my babies heart beat with the doppler (my reg doc AND the midwife have both said the same thing) they always tell me "she seems very relaxed" does thi smean her heart beat isnt strong enough? or not fast enough?

Like i said im not overly stressed about it, but it just makes me wonder.

could just mean its regular and not jumping up and down.
some babies go from 120 - 140 and back in the 2 minutes they check it for.

if it was overly low they would say something and prob be doing extra monitoring

My babies HR goes from 120-160 and any where in between while they are monitoring. Sometimes it stays at the same rate and thats when they say - "nice and relaxed". Depends for me on how active this one is - same with our HR isnt it?

I agree with Kawazuki that if there was a problem they would not hesitate in telling you and monitoring you very closely. That happened with us with DS, I was monitored every week (sometimes twice a week) from 24 weeks to delivery at 36! You will be told if there was an issue.

Just ask next time what the HR is and if that is in the normal range.

I would say it means exactly what they say - you have a lovely and relaxed little bubba! It is always hard to know what to make of doctors comments or actions. At one appointment my doctor was worried about the heartbeat of my little one as it seemed really fast but prior to going in bubs was doing backflips and all sorts of crazy stuff so I wasn't too concerned as I knew she had just been really active. The doppler the dr was using didn't actually measure the HR you could just hear the sound so she timed it and worked it out and said it was all perfectly normal it just sounded fast. Then at my last appointment the dr had trouble finding the HB! Again I wasn't worried as I had felt her moving all day, turns out she was just a lot lower than the doctor expected and when she found the HB it was perfectly normal and healthy, very strong in fact.

I agree with others that if there was ever any reason for concern you would be more closely monitored but it sounds like everything is just perfect!

Definitely agree with the others if there was an issue they would tell you. Guess it is just one of those little throw away remarks that the docs/midwives/OBs use that is just that to them but can cause mums to be to worry unnecessarily.

Sounds as though you a good un cooking in there! One chilled out little bub!
