LMP vs U/S driving me bonkers getting frustrated over dates

i have always had regular cycles to the day so when i found out i was preg i knew exactly how pregnant i was. At 7wks i collapsed my lung and when i had my u/s at 9wks was told i was only 7wks which frustrated me cause i tried to explain i had been real sick and i am regular and know my dates exactly.

I got better and went for my u/s at 18wks and was told that he was measuring 20wks now i have had an u/s today and he is measuring 36+3wks and im only 34wks his head is measuring 37wks and weight (i no it is a guideline) was 6lb 7oz. I am getting excited but have friends who just dont get what im saying when i explain it to them i havnt had this with any of my other pregnancies so was curious about what they do will they change my dates or leave it.

the sonographer said he was going to put in the report in bold letters that my due date should be the 18th feb not the 6th march TIA for letting me whinge

Ultrasounds are not an effective means of measuring a baby...can I ask why it matters at this stage? Are you bring monitored for concerns over babys health or your health? The baby will come when it's ready, so I'm not sure how adjusting the due date helps anything (unless you have to be induced???).

Vent away...it sounds like a pain you don't need!

it all just sucks cause they want me to have a c/s at 38wks which i will have if i have to he is transverse but if he turns they want me to be induced at 38wks also so i dont have big baby and prreassure on the lungs iykwim i just wish you got told ok baby will come on this date be ready

But if they're changing the dates on you it might actually be more like 36 weeks.
Is there any particular reason they're worried about you having a big baby (aside from the inaccurate scan measurements)?

They should always go by your own LMP dates or your dating scan if you had one will be the most accurate.
Don't let them change your EDD based on subsequent scans, as the growth rate of all babies differs greatly after about 12 weeks.

Do you know the actual date of your LMP AND the day you O? Or just the LMP?
Remember that you may not ovulate in the middle of your cycle, and the egg may not have been fertilised until a day after O, so that would explain the initial variance in US and LMP dates.

Like I said though, I would take the date that allows you to be as late as possible when delivering, which from what you are saying I think is your original LMP date.

Why do they want to induce you though? Is there a medical reason? ("Big baby" isn't a medical reason lol)

The further along you are in pregnancy the less accurate u/s dating is.
Babies grow at different rates...there is a huge variance in newborn weights.
I would be inclined to stick with your original date....if they do take bub at what they see as 38 weeks (36 weeks your dates) his/her lungs may not be ready....the other way if their dates are right you would just be 40 weeks (your dates) so bub would be ready to be born.
I wish you the best and I hope the birth goes well with no lung problems.
