Back from 2 days in hospital (TMI) VERY LONG

    Hi all

So on Thursday morning I tripped over and had a rather heavy fall. Sprained an ankle, grazed and bruised down my right hand, arm, knee and fell right onto the right side of my stomach. Very bruised and sore.

I got checked out by the hospital and was registering mild tightening...which calmed down after a rest and some panadol. They said they would keep me in for 24 hours just to make sure nothing else happened. Took my wee and blood.

That night they said I'd be able to go home the next morning...until they took my blood pressure. So at 1am I was giving more wee and blood. Bloods were (quote) "a little abnormal" with a bit of protein also showing in my wee. My platelets had been low for previous blood tests (2 weeks ago) and were down again.

Checked BP again in the morning and it had gone down. I was feeling really sore from the fall more than anything else. They said I should be able to go home. Had breakfast and then they came for checks again. They wanted to check baby one more time before I went home so hooked me up to the machine again.

Oh look...contractions. Mildly uncomfortable, showing on the print out as every 6 minutes. Got more and more uncomfortable and when a rather uncomfortable one came I felt myself leak. Nothing near a gush, but enough to feel. So I went an checked. I was a bit damp, but nothing too dramatic. Hooked up to machine for 3 hours and was told by doctor "expect a baby in the next 5 days".

Then they stopped. No tightening, nothing. More leaking but again nothing dramatic.

Then they started again, even 5 minutes. Another poor doctor had to come and sit with her hand on my gut.

    Then they stopped again.

I felt leaky again and off to the loo I went. Felt tightening and pressed a hand on my tummy.

    (TMI WARNING)

Out dropped 4 or 5 globs of thick stuff into the loo. I felt it easily and it seemed to be whitish but there wasn't a lot when I wiped.

Doctors came and said that I will be fine to go home after lunch as tightening had stopped and I wasn't in labour.

Then after lunch they checked my blood pressure.

ARGH. Now I wasn't going home because BP was high again. More blood and wee taken. Still a tiny bit of protein in wee, bloods pretty much same as before but platelet levels down again.

So I waited, waited, waited for them to make a decision. Finally they came to check BP every 15 minutes. BP on the higher end of normal but basically steady.

Got told that I could go home as long as I kept a close eye on BP and how I feel. Finally got home that night!

    Today:

Was sitting on couch and started to feel really weird. A bit dizzy and sore-ish in the head. GP with nurse only 2 minutes down the road so went in and had BP checked.

12:30pm after sitting in waiting room
    138/94 pulse 123

1pm after they made me lay down for half an hour
    133/68 pulse 94 yay! better!

    2pm after sitting
    145/88 pulse 104

    3pm sitting
    142/87 pulse 96

    4pm sitting
    164/97 pulse 93

Now this is being done on a digital machine because it's what the nurse is bringing to me...I assume the "manual" ones are more correct but less portable.

I have a clinic appointment with the hospital on Monday, which they made for me. I have more bloods done and see the doctor again. However they said if I get headachey or see funny things to come in beforehand.

If I keep getting the nurse to check my BP (she said I can borrow the machine and bring it back Monday if need be)...how high can it get before I call the hospital???

Or shall I just leave it until Monday and keep writing down the BP results? I'm not sure there is much they can do about my BP and bloods except keep and eye on me.

Oh...went to the loo not long ago. Heaps of thick, yellow goo when I wiped. Ew!

Thanks for getting this far. It's been an epic few days.

160/100ish or over I would contact them as that is stage 2 mild. Your 4pm sitting is concerning. I would definitely call if the next one isnt better. Sounds like your plug might be going walk abouts too.

Got my fingers crossed for you - if nothing else for another week. Good thing you have the monitor there, but I would check it again to make sure it hasnt gone up from the last. If it has, call it in.

Angela - sounds rather stressful, which of course is going to keep your BP up high too! On the upside, you may get to meet your babe sooner rather than later which is fabulous! 37 weeks is fine to deliver. Wishing you all the best

    Angela!!

I finally got into my email again after someone hacked the password...was just looking at the fruit basket for you now, and then I pop on here just to catch up and see this! Holy cow it seems you may be having your bub sooner rather than later.

I have fingers, toes, eyes and nose crossed for you that everything goes really well and if you're not at the hospital yet, I hope you're getting some much-needed rest before your big day!

    I'm still here!

I'm feeling nauseated every day now, crampy and back pain, lots of poo (TMI sorry!) and finding it very hard to wee becuase there is so much baby head down there!

Not sure which pain is from baby/pre labour and which is from falling over.

Husband and I have a bet going. There is a weekend away at a hotel with a spa (or bath lol I'm not fussy) resting on it.

I am still hopeful that baby will be on time (May 25) or late as I always had a niggly feeling it would be late. Kim however thinks I will not make it to the 17th May.

The kebab shop man last night reckoned I'd have it in the next two days! Don't think so!
