Question Bloody show? What does it look like exactly? Alan??

    Hi,
Just wanting to know what this famous bloody show looks like.

Over the last week I have had increased cervical mucus. The last two days I have had, very fine blood streaks in it. Kind of like if you dipped a piece of hair in bright red blood and ran it through it. Does this sound like a bloody show to you? Or is it more like pink coloured mucus, all mixed up no streaks?

Tonight, I'm getting alot of period type pain as well. Have been getting alot of cervical pain over the past few days too.

Do you think this maybe a start of a bloody show?

Mine was like a big ball of mucus with blood streaks in it. I lost it in a blob, rather than in small amounts over a few days, but every one is different.

    Hi Mel
as you can see by the other posts the show can be different for different women. Some women loose their plug in one lump other loose it slowly over a few days or even a couple of weeks. But from your graphic description I would say that you have had a show. I don’t think you will have long to wait to meet your new baby

Oh I hope not Alan. I can't wait to meet this little one.

Sunday week ago, I lost a huge blob of sticky discharge I could only think it was my MP, it had only a few streaks of brown blood but since then I have had alot of sticky discharge but only the last few days it has been with the streaks of bright red blood. After going to the loo this morning I have noticed the blood volume in the mucus has increased.

I hope this could be the start. Fingers crossed. Still trying not to get my hopes up as I've had alot of pre labour for a couple of weeks, won't let myself think "this is it", until I'm screaming in pain

    Thanks everyone.

O.K well now I know what a bloody show looks like. My next question is how long normally after loosing your plug and having a bloody show did you go into labour.

As I said earlier, I lost my plug or the majority of it 9 days ago, and two days ago I starting having bloody mucus (that seems to have stopped ATM) but still getting alot of sticky stringy discharge. Can I seriously go on like this for another couple of weeks? It feels like forever that I have been having some serious pre labour symptoms, but they just don't seem to progress further into actual labour.

BTW at my last hospital appointment the midwife found me to be 2-3cm dilated with a soft anterior/mid cervix, surely it can't be too much longer until we meet our little man, can it?

I lost a little bit (no blood streaks) on a tuesay then exactly a week later I lost some more, the second time with blood streaks in it. That was on the tuesday, and Claire was born the following saturaday.

I dont know about the dilation/cervix though.

Oh I hope I follow in your foot steps, I'd love to see this guy in the next couple of days. Praying I follow in your foot steps. DD labour was so different, my water broke with her with no pre labour symptoms at all, apart from increased discharge which I didn't really notice at the time.

    Thanks.

    Hi Mel

You can loose your show just before you go int labour or you can loose your show a month before you go into labour. Sorry I know that you did not want to hear that. but now that you have lost your MP I can promise you that your baby will be born on it's birthday.
