Braxton Hicks

So today ive been getting what I think are braxton hicks that are a bit painful. then this afternoon I got a huge stitch down right hand side of my tummy that made me have to lay down (nearly brought tears to my eyes) and now Im getting pains in my lower back.

Has anyone ever heard of Braxton Hicks being painful in your lower back?

Pain in your back is one of the ways you tell real contractions from Braxton Hicks contractions. My BH contractions were quite uncomfortable towards the end but I never felt them in my back until it was the real thing.
Are these pains coming regularly? Perhaps you are in early labour?

they dont seem to be regular and now its sort of a constant pain in my lower back.

i never had braxton hicks with my ds but i had lower back ache constanly when i was in labour with him, i didnt really feel any contractions till my waters broke. i just had constant back ache that would alleviate no matter what i did..


maybe call a midwife and ask it could be early stages of labour....

I donnt get the lower back pain but I have been getting braxton hicks since 20weeks and it is always the sharp painful stitch type pain across the belly...Takes your breath away I never had this with dd so this is new to this pregnancy, but I guess body is remembering what it has to do.

Id call the midwives and just check

I've been getting these since 18 weeks, now they are getting stronger..sometimes a little painful depending on whether bubs is in a half somersault when one hits or not. Or if I'm having one and I stand up too quick I'll get sharp pains but haven't had any in my back :/
