i had my 30 week midwife appointment the other day and bubs heart rate was at around 180 bpm. should i be worried that its so high for 30 weeks? does it indicate somethin could be wrong? My midwife didnt really tell me anything.
please help....
it has never been 180 the whole pregnancy.
12 weeks was 176..
then..
150 and 140's..
appointment before it was 136
HUN relax if they were conecrened they would have sent you for a monitering.
Babies heart rates do go all over the place and yes 180 is hight but it musnt have stayed that high or they would have been concerned.
When i listen to a fetal heart i will listen for about a minute to hear the speeding up and slowing down if it flicks up that high and comes back it is normal if it started up high and stayed I would send for a CTG moniter.
From what I understand (and I am not a medical professional) whenever bubs is active, the heartrate shoots up just like everybody else.
I suppose it makes sense as a lot of work is being done (i.e. developmental, growth etc) in a relatively short period of time.
If the midwife was worried, I am sure she would have sent you for monitoring but still, to settle your mind, contact the person who is monitoring your pregnancy (i.e. GP, Ob etc) and ask. Better safe than sorry!!
Holly, I agree, if something was wrong they would have told you.
And it's a girl, have you heard the old wives tale that girls have higher heart rates?? lol. That's what my mum keeps telling me, she thinks I'm having a girl.
Hi Hollye
Normal heart rate is between 110 and 160. However, just like you it is quite normal for the rate to go quite a bit higher than this especially if the baby is moving. 180 Is fine providing that it does not stay at that rate for too long.
