Cevical happenings, what do you think? possibly TMI

HI guys, just wanted to ask what you all thought.

I have had scans and know that my cervix is quite short. I also know that it can hang around a bit like this for weeks.

I am on weekly visits to my OB due to twins and she is expecting that I will go early, but also says its hard to tell.

My main question is about my cervical fluids, globs etc.

I get quite a bit of the clear cervical fluid, but not all the time, so am not worried about any type of leak.

Last week I was in hospital with regular/irregular intensity pains,BH. I was sent home relieved and they stopped within about 6hrs. That night I had a slight pinkish tinge to my cervical mucus(pressume it was from bruising caused by the internal). That didnt worry me, but my cervical muscus started to get a bit thicker and globbier.

Had no more globs after that day, however tonight I got some more pains and just then I went to the toilet and had some more globby mucus. It is not clear kind of browny clear but not brown, hard to explain, maybe yellowy, I dont know it really is hard for me to describe. So although I know that I have not lost my plug, well it doesnt look anything like the plug I lost with DD.

I would just like to know if these pains are related to things happening with my cervix, perhaps it shortening more, and is this why I am getting the thicker cervical mucus in relation to the pains? I dont have thick cervical mucus at any other time, so far, only the clear fluid.

Any comments, personal experiences etc, much appreciated.

I just wanted to say that I had thick white CM the days before DD2 was born. Maybe up to a week before.
I also had a few pains/contractions at 34 weeks. At the same time there was some brown blood. I was a bit scared, but MIL advised me to lay with my feet up for a few hours & to ake it easy from now on & everything was ok.
I did ask my doc too, he was the one who told me that they were contractions & that it was 'old' blood. He wasn't worried though.
She stayed put til 41 weeks though!

I don't know, but maybe you hould be prepared just in case. My plug with DD1 was grey wth blood & kinda stringy, with DD2 I only got the CM stuff.
With DS there was nothing!

Good luck. I hope they hold off for a few more weeks!

Thanks for the reply bjrose. I was so happy to hear that despite pains etc that you got to 41 weeks. Although poor you, going over, but yah that you didnt have an early baby. It gives me confidence.

I had some nasty pains again this morning, but am feeling good now. Just have that awful bruised feeling that you can get after BH now.

We are hoping that they stay put too. At least until Nov and then a bit longer if possible.

That's interesting to know about the plug being different. I cant recall really losing anything with DS and I had a c/s so I only have DD's birth process to go by.

If you are worried go get checked out.
DH's cousin had her girls at 32+3. She had pains all day, but wasn't sure. By the time she decided to get checked out it was too late. They did try twice to stop the labour, once in Dubbo & once in Sydney, but she was transferred to Sydney where she had them 2 days later.
She ended up having a vaginal delivery with them as it was better for their lungs to be born that way when they are that early.
They are ok. Happy healthy 7 month olds now (they were born the same day I had DS), but noone wants their bubba/s to arrive that early.

Thanks. The pains have gone away, thank-goodness, but I am definantly keeping an eye on them.

That is great that your DH's cousin was able to have her twins vaginally. Mine are both transverse so they havent given me an option.lol I think that I probably will have a few false alarm trips to hospital, here's hoping the real deal isnt until later. I can deal with the pain, if I get something out of it, but these BH's are a real pain in the bum.

Don't give up on a vaginal birth if you want one.
DH's cousin & a friend of mine both had twins 5 weeks apart. Both were told they'd e having a ceaser. Like it or not.
My friends twins were all over the place. Every time I saw her from about 26 weeks they had a rough estimate of when the ceaser would be. It started at 32 weeks.
I think they were trying to beat labour.
They were going to send her to Sydney to have it done. One twin was head down, but the other was breech.
I told her to refuse. It was too early & that is no a good enough reason for a ceaser IMO!
Next it was 34 weeks. The twins kept switching position. Each check up the other one was head down.
BUT, at 37 weeks both were head down & ready to go.
They were born at 37+4.

Being transverse with twins might be harder to get them to change possy's since they both have to move, but maybe if you do some of the things to ry & convince them to move they will.

Obviously its your choice, but if you do want a vaginal birth there is no reasn not to try. There's still a good chance you will end up with a ceaser, but it's worth trying.
