    Question Chest infection and Amoxil

    Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone else has been prescribed antibiotics in pregnancy? Ive been told they are safe but I guess I'm a little concerned on the effect they have on Baby.

Amoxil is considered Category A Class drug, so it is safe during pregnancy.

Yes I had a chest infection very early in PG and was also prescribed Amoxil. I had the pharmacist print out the Emims sheet for me so I could read for myself that it's safe!

    Hope you're feeling better soon!

    Hi,
Thanks for your feedback. I did start taking it and I hope it starts to work soon as I am having coughing fits. I wonder what the baby feels when we cough? It's been really painful.

I know what you mean by the coughing, I have had this too and sometimes I think it must be driving bubs crazy with all that jostling about!

I refuse to take amoxil, I really hate it and usually get better in my own time. However yes it is classified as being 100% safe in pregnancy my dislike stems from stupid drs long before I was pregnant

The only downside to any antibiotic i the increase chance of gretting thrush but otherwise Amoxyl is safe for you and your baby
