Clumsiness and lack of normal coordination in late pg!

The last few days I find myself with lots of near misses and one fall (luckily on my bum), trying to do the things I normally do without thinking including cutting corners and rushing. Its good to remind myself that I need to be a little more careful and thinking

Anyone else had some near misses lately?

    My latest events were:

    • repeatedly tripping over electric cords in my house (we are painting)
    • slipped down a muddy slope, my balance isn't as good
    • tripping on clothes left on the floor
    • leaning over an open dishwasher and trying to carry something
    • spilling hot tea on me when trying to do something else at the same time
    • a light bulb exploding when changing it after a power outage (I should have let DH do it)
    • tripping, and more tripping...

Yep and yep. I drop EVERYTHING and then can't bend over to pick it up. DH has to follow me around picking everything up for me. I walk into things and have to run my hands along the wall to keep my balance.

I've stopped going to the shopping centre on my own because the people rushing around me makes me anxious of falling over. I'm constantly looking for a rail or hand bar to hold onto. I'm now also avoiding walking anywhere with uneven surfaces.

I've forgotten what it was like to rush around. I seem to be in a different timezone now and we talk about "pregnant lady time" when deciding on how long something might take to do!

LOL! I realise now that I am too starting to run my hand along the wall, was unconscious of it until you raised it. What a lovely DH you have, I sit on the couch and tell DH what he has to pick up around me and bring to me. Poor lad is already exhausted.

And yes, I've started to notice how people 'rush' around in supermarkets and a couple of times gotten a bit worried. Same with kids and adults on bikes on the footpath (its legal in Canberra and something I have always done without thinking). Freaks me out a bit. I want to shout at them to be careful even though they haven't done anything wrong (turning into an old bag I am).

Completely normal. I remember running into a bench one day at acupuncture and nearly knocking it over. I was so apologetic, but the woman I saw was also pregnant and explained that the clumsiness was completely normal due to raised progesterone levels. I guess it just becomes more obvious towards the end as you are so much bigger, too. And when you think about it, your centre of gravity has also changed fairly significantly in a relatively short period of time.

Also your fingers swell a bit too and it changes the way you grasp things so I found that I dropped stuff all the time! I also lost strength in my hands so couldn't undo jars etc and do fiddly things like small buttons.

Nothing to do with being pregnant.

Doorframes are just smaller, comfy chairs are lower, benches are moved to be in your way and the floor is further away. Not sure about the big blind spot on the floor in front of me though

*sigh* 4 more weeks to go ...
