    Conjuntivitis

I have woken up this morning with what looks like conjunctivitis in my left eye. I am 34 weeks pregnant. Is this something that I have to go and see the GP about or can I just go to the chemist and get something over the counter? If I wasn't pregnant I wouldn't give it two thoughts I would just leave it for a few days and see if it got better but I wouldn't like this to hurt the baby.

    What do you think?

Definately go to the doctor. I had it a couple of weeks ago and got a prescription cream, it did take a few days to go away though. I doubt it would hurt the baby but if you can get something for it now you will have more chance of it going quicker than if you wait and it gets worse.

A friend of mine told me there is an ointment you can buy at the chemist without prescription, and it cleared her toddler's up in one night!
However I went to the GP for DS, as he has conjunctivitis last week, and we were prescribed antibiotic eye drops.

In the meantime, before you decide what to do, you can keep rinsing your eye with cooled boiled water with salt added. I once treated my own conjunctivitis with just salty water and it cleared up within a couple of days...

Emma had it a week or 2 ago & we just got some drops from the chemist - they worked almost straight away. I then continued to bath her eyes in salty water (she didn't resist so much) & they were fine. I hope it clears up soon for you.

only thing about the stuff from the chemist is it contains sulphur so anyone allergic to sulphur (like me hehe) you need to go to the dr to get something perscribed that dosn't have it in it hope it clears up looks like i am getting it this avo
