Hello all!
Well this has turned into a sort of a quasi belly buddies group! Which is hard work for me as I'm already in two of them!!! LOL... I am the last to pop in the 1-15 Feb group so a week or so ago was warmly welcomed into the 16-28 Feb group LOL.
Mum2Willie - well done with your extended baking time, sounds like you did a great job with keeping your GD under control.
Allboys - pleased to hear the s&s got some movement going, I do hope it keeps up!
lismith25 - I worked until late too - in the office until nearly 39 weeks, then from home until 40 weeks. It really helped keep my mind off the due date!!
Shell stil got those p.pains aye, you're really working hard there!
AFM a very sad and sookie day today, feeling sorry for myself. My new 'interim' avatar helped pick me right up! As did getting out of the house for a couple of hours despite the heat. Wed is OB appt 41+2, I had been uncertain about the idea of an S&S a few days ago but now I feel that if the cervix is at all favourable for it I will be saying YES PLEASE!!!

MTW thats what I had...I had the proglastin gel stuff, it gets inserted on a type of tampon, mine slipped out and had to be replaced at some point :o but that started at about 3pm the day before. The mw then gave me a sleeping tablet, hubby went home and then when she came to do an internal and my waters broke as I got out of bed.....contraction started afterwards I cant remember exactly when but were bad enough to want hubby back at 3am....DD was born 5.30pm that avo......long time but I was high on pethedine for most of it  and its a route I intend to go again....it didnt really help the contractions but it made me calm in between.
Wow that was a ramble....anyway yes I had the gel and it did work....its not comfortable but hey after an internal and what is to come.....it wont even register:D Hey you'll have your bub on my due date:clap:
I managed to get my appointment changed for 40+1 so week on tues, i will be begging for a s+s and an induction date just in case:pray:....I got bumped twice last time because of natural births...some people are so inconsiderate;)
AliB - sorry your having a downer, I had a crying day yesterday but it passed and just go for the s+s - at worse it will do nothing:doh:
-
AliB - Sorry to hear having a crappy day!!! You are nearly there! Here's hoping your cervix is favourable - unlike mine.
Lis - Thanks for information re the gel! So you didn't need anything else to get your contractions going??? That could be good...I was wondering with hubby should stay with me that night or not...as I have toddler at home. The in laws will stay over but Daddy will calm him when (and he does 50% of the time) wake at night. What do you think??? Did they recommend your hubby to go home?? I am going to a private hossy and they have a double bed, so DH can stay! But, then again, home and hospital are 10-15mins apart. So he is not far away if I want him.
Glad you get the appointment earlier!!!
-
I think its up to you if you want him to stay.....I go to a small country practice style hospital and visitors are out be 9 unless its all happening. I was a bit nervous about dh leaving but in hindsight it was a full on day and he had a good 5 hours sleep in his own bed, so he was a little more relaxed than I was.
This time however Im not going in overnight, I was bumped that day as well went in at 8 for an internal got monitored and then someone came in to do it naturally:wall: so I got pushed to 3pm........this time if it happens dd will be taken care of and I will be there at 7 or 8 ready to go......yeah right :D
I dont know if this is relevant but I forget to put it in the earlier post, but I ended up on the Syntocin!!!! drip as well for the last couple of hours as my contractions hadnt progressed then it was all systems go.....I dont know the rules of induction but you may still need that (and as I recall that was the "if I talk about more children slap me poleease"pain):o
Im getting excited for you, not long left:clap:
-
Thanks Lis - I think I might get DH to stay - or even just for the gel, go home to help with toddler getting to bed, then back and stay the night with me.

Hi Shell, it was me that wanted the S&S.
I asked for one last week but was told no so she said to come back this week and she would do one for me.
I like to know that things are at least looking like they are doing the right thing even though in reality it could be this way for days. I will have another one done on Monday before the hospital appt on Thursday. She did tell me that you have an 80% chance of spontaneously getting started with one as opposed to not having one done. So thats 80% enough of a shot for me.
I was induced with the gel with my first son 4 days early because of high blood pressure. It was not a pleasant experience. I ended up with three lots of gel and then my waters were broken only for him to become distressed and me having a forceps and episotomy birth. It was 38 hours from the first lot of gel till he was born, hence the reason I dont want another one.
My other three boys have all been overdue but have all come spontaneously the last two just two days before I was due to be induced. I am hoping this is the case with this one too. Not that I am wanting to go that far over but I want an induction date to scare her out.

How is everyone going? any movement for anyone :)?
-
Hey guys,
I had figured this was normal but its getting quite bad. I occasionally get really strong stabbing pains in my bladder and v-j-j area. It only lasts a few seconds and is only when bubs is moving lots, i figured it was normal from him headbutting me down there but its getting really painful lately, like jump out of my chair and catch my breath painful! Should it hurt that much if its just him wriggling round?
-
Hey Jelly
yeah i get that too,its so bad at times and i yell out or cant breath for a sec, its bubs head on your cervix ,well mine is , it hurts a lot i know.
but normal, iv asked my MF about it she said thats what it is and very normal as bubs engages , even if ur bub is not engaged all the time ,they can engage and then dis engage anytime as well
it feels like aknife is stabbing u down there doesnt it ouchys
-
I figured that was what it was but didnt think it was supposed to be quite that ouchy! I best stop whinging though as labour will obviously be quite a bit worse!
-
Hi all!
Yep I know the stabbing pain in cervix, vag and bladder VERY WELL, as my bub has been fully engaged on and off since 24 weeks. Unfortunately he has decided to go for a float now I'm overdue and he's only 1/5 engaged, although either his head or hand still comes down for a poke on a regular basis!
So I had the internal this morning at the OB, he stretched and maybe swept, I don't know as it was all a massive rush as he was off to deliver a baby. I was really upset at how rushed it was, and he booked me for monitoring on saturday (41+5) and induction on monday (42). Hmmm. If I want to go beyond Monday I can, I would need daily monitoring, but it would be "against my advice" said the OB. DP is starting to get nervous about post-dates as he has been reading up re meconium etc, so hey maybe it is time. And I have had an extra 7-9 days compared to what many OBs and hospitals require. Well, I've still got 4.5 days to (a) think about it and (b) go into labour spontaneously!!
-
Ali B- Oh maybe you will be another delivery on my due date
I think just be positive that now the end is in sight and who knows it may all happen on its own.
Mine is just messing with me, I have dropped again and get the lightning everyday :o but everynow and then I get a movement frenzy so I take it that means its not fully engaged. The period pain had stopped in the last 48hours, but I am getting 4/5 lots of bh an hour and then nothing and then its starts again.......as I said messing with me:wall:
Would love to believe all this pre-labour was for something, but if not they will only let me go 10days over so March 10th will be d-day if not sooner and only today and tomorrow still at work, then im done. Thinking I did everything backwards this time with dd I stopped 2 weeks before and went insane with boredom....this time I am so utterly exhausted from chasing a toddler around, that I now feel run down and have a sore throat and could have used this week to sleep while she was at daycare:doh: Well hopefully I might get that next week if still no baby....these mums who think they can do everything;)
-
Oh Ali i reallyhope bubs just decides enough is enough its time to meet Mummy- i dont like the sound of the DR being so rushed with u like that, i dont like Dr's who do that- who knows what he even did down there IUKWIM
Lets hope just knowing that you have a date will make your body go into action so u can have bubs naturally..have u had any pre labour signs ?
Lis i hear u- i have so much pre labour its getting annoying - they say its good for your body blah blah but iv had enough
so much period pain it gets so strong the other night i could not sleep coz if it, BHS coming at regular intervals then stops..need to go for number 2's all the time :(
and i feel so so sick i want to be sick all the time .i do not have an appetite and dont want to eat anything much at all.
I have been moving around bouncing on the fit ball, hot baths ,trying to get labour to kick in but nothing .
I know labour will hurt and i am prepared for that, i just dont like all the pre labour lol,its uncomfortable and annoying
-
Alib- that sucks about your Dr rushing you like that, i know we're like one of dozens of patients but they should still take the time. Having said that though, if i was the lady in labour i would want him to rush for me too. LOL
Shell1- i know what you mean. At least in labour the pain is doing something and will have and end, Prelabour is just frustrating because you don't know if its doing anything worthwhile or just niggling stretchy pains.
Oh and i totally agree that this thread has become an extra belly buddies thread!
-
sorry to crash the party but shell you sound like I felt a few days before I had DD2. Felt sooooo sick for about five days then felt better all of a sudden and had her a day later! Hopefully it means the same thing for you too!
Good luck Ali! I really hope that being given a date gets things going for you ;)
good luck to everyone else too. So exciting that you will be meeting your bubbas soon! x
-
Jelly - I too know about that ouchy wa was cervix crash! Get it a couple of times a day - and I find I have to move, which moves bubs!
Ali - Now you have the same induction date as me (Lis' due date!). If it is any help to you my OB let's people go ten days over.
Lis - So glad you only have a couple of work days left - you must be truly exhausted...don't know how you are still doing it!! One advantage of going past your due date next week, will definitely be the rest you can catch up on - even if it is for a couple of days...sounds like you need it!
Shel - I seem to have a really bad night (like you described) and then a good night...Last night I slept well and bubs was co-operative whereas the night before was atrocious. My whole body throbbed and she grinded about all over the place!!! I also feel like I am going to be sick all the time (morning sickness revisited). Oh the last few weeks are delightful!
Well no more contractions for me! I have had a lot of downward pressure today and it looks like my bump has dropped more - period pain and cramping this morning. But doesn't feel like any action in the near future. I bet I go into hospital on Sunday night for the gel.
A bit worried about the whole gel thing and feel a bit sad about leaving toddler!!
Thanks for keeping in touch girls!!!
-
Hi girls - thanks for your support re my rushed appointment!
The S&S or whatever it was has not had the desired effect - 24 hours after, just some brown blood and general low down aches. Poo!
Mum2W so maybe we will go on Monday together with Lis, I hope for all our sakes it happens for all of us before hand!
Labour vibes to all :)
-
Ladies,
I can't believe that all of these babies are still keeping us waiting. Mother nature is on a tight deadline with me now - in 18 hours I will be in hospital waiting to be induced. Despite this being my second pregnancy I am finding this prospect completely terrifying. DD was only 4 days late and before the contractions started I hadn't had any niggles at all. I was lucky to have a quick, fairly painless labour and a straight forward (but exhausting) delivery, all over in 5 and 1/2 hours start to finish. Of course this time I've had 18 days of pre-labour and a potential induction. Has my body forgotten what to do?
Anyway, good luck to you all. I hope that you manage to beat your deadlines...
