I started having contractions at about 3:30pm yesterday and by 4pm they were 5 mins apart. I kept timing them for another hour and a half and at about 5:45pm rang the hospital and was told to come straight in. Been there since about 6:30pm being monitored and had the fetal fibronectin test which thankfully was negative. My cervix was still closed too. I'm still getting the contractions regularly and controlling the pain with panadeine. The midwife wanted me to stay in hospital but the doctor said I was fine to come home. I figure I will rest better at home though DF wanted me to stay just in case, seeing as I'm still contracting - which was also the midwife's view. She didn't seem to hold much stock in what the doctor said - he was a bit of a doofus.
So I have to go straight back in if my waters break or I have pink/red spotting. If I'm still contracting like this in a few hours, I have to ring them and discuss our options. They said that no doubt I would be asked to come back in.
So in hindsight I probably should have stayed but I came home.
I went to bed and DF woke me at midnight for my next lot of panadeine but the contractions continued through the night, waking me up when they peaked but I was so exhausted that I didn't wake up to time them.
They are still coming this morning though I don't think as regularly as 5 mins but I could be wrong!
Could this be the start of pre term labour or is my body just being hard to get along with?
I dont have any advice to offer, but just wanted to know that I hope everything works out well for you and the baby. Have you spoken with the midwife at the hosptial again - maybe she can offer some more insights!
