    Dry skin around the nipples....?

Not sure if I'm the only one experiecing this or if someone else as well but I noticed that recently, the area around my nipples have been dry, not the whole areola but just here and there....and seems to itch too [due to it being dry perhaps?]. I'm so tempted to scratch but of course I dont. I noticed that it goes away when I slap on some cocoa butter which I also happen to use on my belly to keep the stretch marks away.

Is anyone experiencing this? Any idea why it's happening or if it's normal? Fyi, some of the ladies in my prenatal class have started to leak but I havent....I'm not too concerned about that but have any of u started to leak yet?

I havent had any leakage!!! I asked my OB about it she said lots of women never do...
I use paw paw ointment on any dry bits and it does the trick for me!

Mine get like that too. I can get come fluid out of mine, so I use that to soften them up sometimes.
Otherwise I use Cocoa Butter or Marcolan.

I hear you on the itchiness. I'm using the lovely Vitamin E cream from the Body Shop- it hasn't done a thing to keep stretch marks away from my tummy, alas, but it can't be beaten for stopping itchy bosoms.
I've only had a few tiny leaks, but I got all excited when I saw it! :-)

Well I am leaking already!! But I haven't got itchy bosoms either!!

But I do have the dryness around my nipples and so glad it jst isn't me that has it, I have been using the paw paw ointment but don't find it is lasting me a whole day. So I think I am going to go buy some of this Vitamin E cream from the Body Shop.

But I agree with Haroula....If we have this now will it sort itself out before full term or will we still get this problem after??

Wow, I'm glad to note that I aint the only one having this itch!! Lol....well, the coco butter doesnt last the whole day either and I put some on right after I bathe so that it can seep in the open pores - which I hope wont be a bad thing but like I said, it doesnt last. Maybe I should give this Vit E a try as well. Thanks for the tips ladies!!

    HI,

I started leaking at 20 weeks, but nothing major, I can actually make it happen on one side if I wanted to lol

Haven't really had dry nipple, other parts of my bbs have been dry, and I've just moisturized. I figured it was just from the bra rubbing. I also use a body wash not a soap. Soap can dry your skin can't it? maybe your skin is just a little more sensitive at the moment??

yeah i use dermaveen in the shower instead of a soap.. and the paw paw ointment i keep a little tube in my handbag and reapply if i need to. that said it has passed for me, i had it at about 24 weeks for a couple of weeks...

kungfubecca : i'm more of a bath wash person than a soap bar person so i think i'm ok there. still dry though but an still diligently slapping on lotion.
