    Early Labour????

    Hi girls,
i am 39 weeks with my second child and I am not sure what to expect when i go into labour. With my DD, I had to have an elective caection as she was breech. This time I am trying for a VBAC. The last few days I have been experiencing mild period like pains down low, as well as some lower back pain. I also have sharp pains down low often,as the babies head is pressing down.

Are these thimgs signs of early labour?? I am not sure if I am having contractions either, as my stomach goes hard all the time. This may be just from the baby moving around though.

What have your experiences been of early labour? So ready to meet my little one!

Firstbub - I can't entirely answer your question but would like to throw myself into the "me too!" basket. With my DD my waters broke spontaneously at 40 weeks, but I had not had a show or contractions before that (just a bit of odd-nesting during that same day).

This time around I have been having the increasing BH for a couple of weeks. Some days they are full-on and seem quite regular, then the next day - hardly any. I learned a good month ago bubs was already 2/5 engaged and was told to take things easy.

The period-like pain you mentioned seems to happen to me a lot during the night - and I am also going to the toilet practically every hour during the night - I just have to roll over and I need to go...

But one thing I have really noticed in the last couple of days is a really big increase in CM.

So I guess this is all pre-labour. I have read for some women this could last a day or two, for others, for a couple of weeks.

GL with the remaining time of your PG. Will be interesting to see what other experiences ladies post here as I am very curious about this one, too!

The tightenings sound like braxton hicks - practise contractions.
The rest does sound like pre labour. Relax & get ready. Things could happen very soon, or it could be a few more days

    Hey there...
I find if you have a warm (not hot) bath and you still get the mild pains then try timing it.
Anything more that 30 min apart I won't worry too much about just yet. If it's 10 min or less then I would be good to start making sure you have things ready. You are pretty close to term so any day.

If the fundus (which is the top part of the tummy by the diaphragm) goes really really hard this MIGHT be early labour but if you can still push this area in a bit with the flat of your fingers them it could be Braxton?s

Make sure you also empty your bladder properly as well.

Not sure where you stay but I'm in Traralgon VIC if you any support let me know...
