    Question Early Labour Question...

    Hi all,

This might sound dumb, but here it goes, i know that DTD/sperm and nipple stimulation in the last stages of pregnancy can bring on labour, but can those things bring on labour now?

I'm 32 weeks tomorrow and i'm certainly not trying to bring on labour at all, just curious as to why those things only help labour later on??

    Thanks!

I'm just guessing but I think those things only help when your body is ready so you might get some cramping or something from those things but until your body is ready to go they won't push you into early labour, does that make sense

Nurse said theres a hormone in sperm that can induce labor. Think it's so your body pops out bubs so you can breed again, that's the only nature based reason I can think of.

The prostagladins in the sperm help ripen the cervix at the end of pregnancy and unless your dr has advised you not to or you are in a high risk catergory then you dont need to worry!

Nipple stimulation can release oxytocin, and to naturally induce labour the time is 20 minutes or so manually or with a pump.

There is more info HERE about natural induction methods including what Ive mentioned!
Basically, no natural induction methods will work before your body is ready so go for it

Thanks guys! That clears up a lot!

I was thinking about it for a while, but i guess it makes sense, our bodies are amazing!
