    EFW at 28 weeks

Hi, i had to have a scan yesterday as i was having alot of stomach pains and my gp wanted to make sure my placenta was still in tact.

    Anyway,

i have picked up the report, and some of the growth rates have me a little concerned

The baby weighs (estimated) 1300 gms. which is not what is worrying me, but the percentiles are.

According to my LMP he is growing on the 55th percentile. but according to the ultra sound he is only growing on the 38th

can anyone tell me the relevance of this? and is it as concernng as i think it is?

    Hi,

Just wanted to bump this up for you, i'm sorry i can't answer your question though. I don;t know anything about the growth percentiles. Hopefully someone who knows will answer you soon.

    Good Luck

Sorry I can't be of much help but do you have an OB/midwife you can speak to about this to put your mind at ease? I'm sure its nothing to worry about. When it comes down to it 38th percentile isn't that far off average..... if your bub measured in the 10th percentile then maybe worry. We come in all shapes and sizes and 38th percentile is very well within the range of "normal". Also remember that measurements on ultrasounds aren't completely accurate. Try not to stress

thanks guys, no i dont see a midwife now. i am not "availible" for midwife care, opnly gp which is a pain in the bum.

My son was always bigger for dates, and was on the 97th percentile, so i am just a bit frazzled at the prospect of a tiiiiiiiny baby...

so i thought maybe a midwife could help me out on here.

cant be much help, but did they put the EDD ahead? theres still alot of time for bub to be packing on the weight. scans can be very inaccurate. id be sticking to my LMP its one thing a text book or machine cant change!! best of luck

speaking from my experience with the EDD put forward...
DD was EDD from LMP 11th july at the 18 week scan her thigh? bone was measured and they put it forward 1 week (which 2 me didnt make sense) she ended up being born on her original due date! she was a long baby, little signs of overcooking but weve since learnt she has a dry skin condition so it could have been that.. since you were charting, how can they just dismiss that information??!! grr

I agree to stick with your own due date from LMP if you know exactly when you O'd. My OB and I knew exactly when I O'd as I was on Clomid and had an HCG trigger shot. DS was due on June 21 according to my dates but according to the scan was due on June 23. My OB said we'd stick with our dates as scans have an error of +/- 10 days.
