Do you think it might be too early to even have 1 Evening Primrose Oil tablet orally starting now? Apparently my cervix is scarred pretty badly from having a couple of D&C's and that was what I was told was the reason for my lack of dialating last time. Then I read that stretching the cervix causes more scarring and it was stretched 3 or 4 times while I was in labour with Noah. I really want things to dialate this time hence wanting to take the EPO a bit early. TIA!!!
I'm not sure whether its true or not - but when I asked my OB about taking EPO - she said that it was great for preparing your cervix for dilation - but when it came down to it - can have the effect of making it dilate SLOWER than it would normally when you are in labour.
So yeah - don't know if its true or not - but she advised me against having it when I was preparing for my VBAC.
Wow!!! I might talk to my midwives and doula about that. Why does it have to be Tuesday!!! My midwives are only open Mon, Wed and Fri
From what I am managing to read the earliest which is on one site says 34 weeks but the average says 36 weeks orally and 38 weeks vaginally.
Some say it induces labour, some say it doesn't do anything that the body wasn't going to do anyway. I just wish there was a definitive answer. Perhaps some studies need to be done on the effects of natural therapies instead of conflicting information floating around everywhere...
I thought RLT was safe all through pregnancy if you are not at risk of pre-term labour, I only just started taking it last night though. I haven't had any BH that I know of so I assume I am quite safe in that aspect.
I have been given a max of 10 days overdue for my VBAC so I want to make sure my body is as prepared as possible or I might go into hiding
Hi there
I wouldn't take your lack of BH as a sign it would be safe to take the EPO so early. I didn't have any that i noticed when i was pregnant with DS and then wham i went into labour after DTD at 37 weeks, this time occaisionally i will get them and then i won't notice anything for weeks on end. Maybe the best ppl to ask when it is safe to start is a Naturopath or someone similar, i just always remember reading that natural supplement can be as dangerous as normal medications without the right information....just to be on the safe side.
Hope you get the VBAC you want!
