    Question Panadeine & Cramping

    Hi

I am 40 weeks + 4 days and have been getting really bad back pain and period like cramping pain for the last couple of days. The constant pain is really starting to get to me.
Does anyone know if you take Panadeine is this ok and also would it slow down the start of labour?

    Hi Fig,

I went to my first hospital antenatal class yesterday and the midwife specifically said that they recommend taking panadol, or preferably panedine (if you're not alergic to codine) for the cramps.

    Hope that helps...

My doctor said is was perfectly fine to take panadene. Just don't over do it. I take it myself when i have bad pains.

I think that it is actually recommended to help deal with the pain of early labour. Have you tried heat packs, massage etc, that might help too?

Thanks for your reply's. I have been coping with just heat packs as I was worried that taking Panadeine might slow down the start of labour. I might try some tonight if the pain gets to me again.
