    confused- help please- allan?

    well im still around

last time i posted re backpain and period pain I ended up in hosp and was told by the strength of the CTG i was looking like Id have bub that day.

No dialation so sent home by ob. When I got to see ob a few days later he said i have an irritable uterus due to 'the sheer size' of the baby and thats why im getting strong braxton hicks and back/period pain.

I cant drive as that sets it off. and ive had the samwe thing every two days or so since. Except ive had back/period pain coming on and off since about 3pm yesterday. It settled for about two hours today and now is back. Baby is moving less and I feel nauseas and very emotional (bit grumpy!) No show or anything.

I dont know if i need to ring the hosp or not because from what I can gather its just pre-labour even though its drawn out. Its painful enough to give me the grumps and wake me up and night, but its not going into severe pain.

    any tips or ideas?

Perhaps give the hossy a call just to see what they recommend?

A friend of mine had what you are describing for about 5 days and did not call anyone and just went ot her normal Ob visit, she was checked then and was found to be 6cm!!! Needlessto say she went fromthere to the hospy andhad her beautiful boy later that day.

    Sending you birthing vibes.......

I had an irritable uterus (and large baby) and it sounds exactly like it. I had pains like this for around 7 weeks before bubs came and I really didn't like my uterus by the end of it. I had dilated to 3cm though during the prelabour, so it wasn't all for nothing.

Definately give them a call if you are worried though.

    thanks all

well i waited out the night and things settled a bit. then i woke thismorning with strong pain in my left pelvis. I think this is an old ligament injury suddenly returned though. still got the period pain, backache and feel like i have to go to loo- lots of pressure. rang hosp and they agreed the bad pain prob the old injury and to wait two hours and phone them back. ive had panadol but it doesnt help. now the period pain is constant (as opposed to coming with the braxton hicks) so confusting!! I dont want to be a hypercondriac im just worried my baby could be in distress thats all.

I agree with the girls about ringing the hospital for peace of mind - and even though they (the hospital) have already given you some advice, for your peace of mind still, I'd be ringing either the hospital back or my ob (probably ob first) and expressing my concern about bubby maybe not having a great time - even if you just go in for an hour or two of monitoring and then go home again. At least your heart and mind will experience a little relief which is very important at this stage of the game!

    Thinking of you lovely.........................xx

    Hi Nelliesbelly
If you are at all concerned then it is a good idea to get things checked. To help you with the pain you can take Panadeine. They are a little stronget than panadol and are safe to take when pregnant. They may also help you sleep.
Are you taking raspberry leaf tea and evening primrose oil? They can help to bring on labour. Nipple stimulation is also helpful as is sex.
I hope things happen for you soon

Thanks so much for the replies. It really helps.

I rang hosp who suggested i have a bath and panadeine as see what happens. It helped with the pelvis pain but otherwise it just seems to be the same- fluctuating between constant period/back pain and then period/back pains with braxton hicks and rests in between. Thats what I find confusing. I feel a bit sore down below too and pressure like I need to go to loo.

They said if Im worried to go in for a checkup. So my plan is to wait and see a bit longer if it gets any worse. DH is home soon and can drive me the 30min drive in if need be.

Alan thanks so much for the support. I have not tried anything to bring on labour yet!
