Breech bub at 32 weeks

My last ob appt showed that bub was breech. I've been feeling a LOT of pressure under my right ribs and am pretty sure it's from bub's head. As far as I can tell, bub has not moved since my last u'sound.

My ob was not at all concerned and told me there was plenty of time for bub to turn which I understand, but I'm starting to get a bit nervous. Both previous babies were well and truly head down by this stage.

Does anyone know at what point concern about a breech baby begins? My ob will do a vaginal delivery depending on the baby's position and any other risks that may be involved.

I have another appt with him tomorrow and I'm hoping to see a baby head down, bum up, but in the meantime, I'm starting to get a little stressed about it.

Get in to see an acupuncturist hon, one who has experience with breech.... check out spinningbabies.com and all that Babies can turn last minute (i turned the day before, 9 days late!) so dont stress too much... I think this bubba is telling you a bit about its personality LOL

I don't have any experience with a breech baby, like you both mine were head down by now, although one was posterior right up til the end. Have you checked out the Spinning Babies website? It might be worth a look to see if there's any positions that might help.

I was told at my 32 week scan that baby was head down and happy. Unfortunately by my 36 week scan baby had turned around and was breech. I was scheduled in for an ECG (I think they only do this after 36 weeks). I decided to try accupuncture before the ECG and when I went for the procedure baby had thankfully turned. I don't think there is really any worries about breech babies until after 36 weeks. Until then almost a quarter can be in the breech position. Try to relax and visualise the baby turning. I hope it all goes well.

My friend (who gave birth to her first bubs last night!) had a breech bubs a week ago and then he turned three days later. He was quite the spinner, this wasn't the first time he'd done it. Based on that, it looks like things can change right up until the last minute.

I'm going to check out the spinning babies site tonight after the kids are in bed and I've got a bit more time.

Hadn't thought of acupuncture - I used it during my IVF cycle with DS but he is in the city, over an hour away which isn't really practical with two kids in tow, but possible if it comes to that.

I'm just getting this sinking feeling that bub might be stuck because I have an anterior placenta??

Kelly - Trust me, my DS has enough 'personality' for the whole family! I was hoping for a nice, placid bub that 'followed the rules' this time LOL! Although I was actually a breech vaginal delivery and I was the perfect child

OK, so after doing some reading about ECVs, vaginal breech delivery, c/s I'm starting to freak out!

Is there anyone out there who has had a vaginal breech delivery that can share??

You know Oscar was stuck - but considering his personality, that was to be expected. Anterior placenta and assumed the position early.

As for Lily - transverse until 36w, breech to 38w and then turned on her own. Posterior, but head down Acupuncture as well as positioning on the floor as much as possible.

Consider this - third full term pregnancy, stretchy uterus, more room to move. Get thee onto the floor playing with the children with your butt up in the air. Handstands in the pool are good too - trust me

And if you want to know about the ECV's etc, just ask. And don't stress

Willow - I have just been reading the spinning babies website out of interest because I think my bub maybe prosterior. They have some excerises that you can start doing now!!

I am sure Michelle will give you some great advice. Don't google or read too much just yet. You'll only get stressed out and you need to be relaxed for bub to move.

Willow, my bub turned breech somwhere between 33 - 35weeks. I did acupuncture and moxibustion and bub definitely tried to turn. I could always feel where his head was, and on a number of occassions he turned half way around and would then come back up.
In the end he didn't turn and I had a c/s, but found out in the c/s that I had a problem with my uterus (which explained my "unexplained infertility" all those years) and there was no way he was going to be able to turn back again at that late stage.
We didn't want to do the ECV, but I would definitely recommend acupuncture because I did notice something happening after having that done and doing the moxa at home.

I forgot the moxabustion!!!!!! If you want to try it I still have heaps - and I can help you do it if you like. A good acupuncturist will stimulate the points too. Mine did with electrical stimulation and DD turned within a few days. A good TCM therapist with place moxa over the little toe acupuncture points and light them so they heat the point. Reflexology can also help.

OK, so bub is no longer breech... but is now transverse

No wonder I've been so uncomfortable!

Ob still confident that bub will get into position in time and has told me to stop worrying till 36wks at the earliest. I am somewhat relieved that it would appear bub is at least not 'stuck' in a breech position.

So trying to follow his advice and in the meantime will look at finding an acupuncturist etc. If at 36 wks bub is still not in position then I'll start looking at ways to turn him/her.
